I booked one night to see sunrise at Mihintale Rock, and I stayed 2 more because I enjoyed the place so much. The host, Kapila, is a former tour guide with expert knowledge of the area and its history; he and his family will welcome you with big smiles, fun conversation, tips on navigating Mihintale and Anuradhapura, and delicious meals. I highly recommend using the villa as your base for exploring Mihintale’s many sites (walkable from the villa) and for taking a 30-minute bus or tuk tuk to Anuradhapura. Pro tip: do NOT miss sunrise at Mihintale Rock/Temple Complex, sunset at Rajagiri Caves, a meditative walk through Kaludiya Pokuna, and a nighttime bike ride to the many holy sites of Anuradhapura.

10 km from Pidurangala Rock in Habarana, Priyavimana resort provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath and spa facilities. I have nothing but praise for Priyavimana Resort! We stayed in a room with a terrace surrounded by palm trees, where you can enjoy breakfast accompanied by birdsong and squirrels. The owners are very kind and helpful. In addition to the fantastic breakfast (other meals are also available on request and I highly recommend trying them at least once), they were also a great help with excursions and sightseeing. The owner has a tuk-tuk and can easily take you to your desired destination. Communication in English was smooth and without any problems. Cleanliness was of a very high standard. During our trip around Sri Lanka, we stayed at several similar accommodations, and Priyavimana Resort was definitely among the very best, both in comfort and cleanliness. I’d also like to point out that they offered assistance in advance with organizing transportation from the airport as well as to our next destination. If (or rather, when) we return to Sri Lanka, we will definitely stay here again.

The Lake Forest Hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and restaurant in Anuradhapura. Excellently located by the idyllic lake ... There are beautiful views of the lake and countryside from the hotel rooms. The pool is well situated to enjoy these views too. Service is always with a smile. Breakfast is very good and there is a great variety to choose from. Rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. Highly recommended.

Situated in Habarana, 12 km from Pidurangala Rock, Bangalawa Resort features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Everything. Clean room with hot shower. Good air conditioning. Great pool with loungers. Breakfast was enormous and very tasty. We also had dinner which was one of the best curries we have had in Sri Lanka and was a reasonable price.

My experience at Hotel 4U Saliya Garden was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with arrangements for tours and tuk-tuk rides at reasonable prices. The food was delicious, and the swimming pool was spacious and well maintained. Guests can also enjoy complimentary access to the billiard table, which is always available. The hotel offers ample parking for vehicles, and the room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with a fully functional air conditioning system. A lot of nature and animals around is the cherry on top

Hidden away in a beautiful ruin, Sungreen Resort Habarana boasts a spa, outdoor pool, fitness centre and views of the mountain. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. I recently stayed at Sungreen Resort and had a fantastic experience. The buffet was extraordinary,The rooms were spacious with beautiful view from the balcony and the large pool was a nice feature. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Enjoy you next stay as I did recently.
