I only had an overnight stay awaiting the border crossing. I arrived late and Lionel was very accommodating and made me feel welcome. He gave me ongoing travel information and dinner recommendations. The room was comfortable and clean. The rear yard was lovely and lush, when I looked in the morning. I only wish I had more time to stay a few days. Lake view from the front balconey too.

Staff, especially the owner Oscar were great and hospitable. Rooms were basic but clean and comfy. Shower was very spacious. This place is one of those where you don't expect much but get pleasently surprised. If your path takes you to Los Chiles, this is your place.

A great location for birding, and definitely recommend getting the boat birding tour that's offered. Food was great too. It's recommended to arrive from the North, rather than Upala, as the roads are better that way, although you can still travel slowly from the South with a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle when the roads are dry. Worth the trip, though; many unique birds are here and the surrounding lands. Bring a lot of cash beforehand.
