I wish I wasn’t tired so I could have taken photos of the hostel. I reached there around 8 pm and was hungry. I asked the owner about a market even 7-11 nearby where I could go and get something to eat and he drove me to a night market, accompanied me throughout, and drove me back to the hostel. The owner is amazing. When I woke up in the morning he was already awake doing some cleaning in the hall. I loved staying there and can not recommend it enough.

The hotel, both in design and decoration, exudes the wonderful feel of a small mountain Mediterranean VIlla, whilst providing excellent Thai hospitality and comfort, in the person of its' owners and staff. Located in the centre of downtown Ubon, well off a busy main road, it is an oasis of calm and comfort, with a superb lunch and dinner menu, bar, coffee shop and patisserie serving freshly brewed coffee, delicious snacks, cakes and pastries. Since my first visit, this hotel is my no.1 choice in Ubon. Safe and clean, kind and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Controlled access to the building and nice room with small balcony. Clean streets around and many street food shops very close to this place.

    Ubon is a nice city if you have plenty of time traveling...

    Ubon is a nice city if you have plenty of time traveling around. Rent a motorbike or navigate by taxi in the city (cheap and they turn on the meter). Some nice places to visit for one or two days. For shopping it's a good city as well.

    It's a large town and we barely scrathed the surface in 2.5 days there. Great temples, quirky converted shops downtown and quite a few interesting bars. Not many western expats and/or tourists around, but that just added to the genuine feel of the place. We drove out to Pha Taem national park to view the 3000 year old cliff painting overlooking the Mekong River. Would definitely recommend doing that. We will be looking into some of the other national parks in the area, next time we're in town. Oh and we were there in late October and were pleasantly surprised at how cool if was, especially afer dark. Very refreshing!

    Big city and nice people, a lot of attractions to see nearby. I rent a car with driver to Pha Taem National Park, to see the ancient rock paintings and well as mushroom shaped rocks. It costs me 2400B for a day. However, if you can speak Thai, it would be much more convenient. I am Chinese, can speak English but not Thai. You can seldom find a local who can speak English, not to say Chinese. Most restaurant menus are only in Thai, so try to find those with pictures. A translate app really helps. May come back after I learn more Thai.
