We arrived early at 10 AM in the morning, hours before check-in and were provided with a room just 30 minutes later. The location is excellent in downtown DAR and in walking distance from the ferry station. The staff is really really nice and helpful and the rooms have A/C and are en-suites. The hotel provides coffee, tea, and a light breakfast in the morning and has a balcony from which you can observe the buzzing city life of DAR. It definitely has an excellent price value ratio and we would always come back to Sofia Hotel. Asante Sana!

Comfortable and friendly staff. Shuttle to/from DAR was arranged and the drivers were friendly. If you go on a Friday evening to the hotel (like I did) you pass through the night market on the way and it is amazing to see! Ask them to make you the carrot and lemon soup, it is AMAZING! I actually stayed here two (unplanned) nights whilst waiting for lost/delayed baggage to come.
