The setting is magical, surrounded by forest but not far from the sea. The accomodation is a series of cabin-like rooms a short walk into the main lobby/restaurant area. There is a desk & bar area & plenty of cupboard space. The bed & pillows were very comfortable, and the deck & the views to the gardens outside very peaceful. The grounds are beautiful, including a fully labelled herb and vegetable garden. There are 2 pool areas, one for kids which is also a great idea. Transport can be arranged by golf cart to and from the restaurant but we enjoyed the walk. The breakfast was excellent, huge range of choices, and the dinners too, although it was pretty pricey. There is a separate spa centre and its a 10 minute drive into Comporta.

We spent 5 days at Casa Atlantico Carvalhal and we couldn't have been happier. We were greeted in the most professional manner, given a run through of all the workings of the apartment and recommendations with maps for the surrounding area which was a great help. We were given a lovely welcome basket of freshly baked bread, eggs, water, and fruits, teas and coffee. The apartment is just as pictured, very comfortable, clean with so many amenities which are done very well. There are bikes! We took many rides along the dikes in the rice fields and to the very nearby beach. Our hosts were graciously attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and they went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay. And we did! Just lovely. This is a beautiful picturesque area. The apartment with it's pretty pool, is situated on a small hill overlooking the rice fields which are enchanting. We would return to this accommodation any day and often, if we could!!

The parking was very close to the room so it was easy to manage our luggage. Nearby there is a cafe, or beach bar and restaurant which made our stay excellent. It has chairs and tables on the sand, so you could spend a day here relaxing. We were there in the late afternoon until sunset.
