What best defines this place is the amazing atmosphere created by the hosts. It’s something truly special, unlike anything we’ve experienced elsewhere. It genuinely feels like a home you become part of during your stay. There’s also the opportunity to see beautiful birds up close from the house’s terraces. The hosts were incredibly helpful in planning our days and recommending activities. Lastly, the fantastic breakfast deserves a mention—it kept us full all the way until dinner. My partner and I went to Costa Rica mostly to surf but decided to stop by lake arenal on the way back to San Jose and we are so grateful we did! This lodge and the majestic ceiba tree that it overlooks are magical. The entire property is thriving with wildlife. Sergio, the owner, is so welcoming and knowledgeable about the local ecosystem. Breakfast is also to die for—both the food and the view are top notch.

The room was spacious and nice. It is located in between a couple of amazing sightseeing spots and is great to use as a base camp. Kees, the owner, is really helpful and friendly. Even before the trip he helped us a lot with putting our trip together. And when a sloth was in the yard of the hotel, he came to show us.
