Everything! The most loveliest hosts, felt really like spending the stay in their family. Since vegan dinner options were rare in Iiyama, the host lady prepared a vegan vegetable stew and tofu as a side dish just for me and we had dinner together at their family kitchen table. ♡ Though communicating in English was a bit difficult, the 3 of them made an immense effort to communicate with me via Google translate - loved and enjoyed learning more about Iiyama, their life and Japanese culture so much! Also, met their lovely daughter Natsumi again by accident in Nozawa at Haus St. Anton a few days later which was lovely! :) Thank you for everything!!!

The first thing to say is that the staff is really friendly and helpful. The location is great, at the heart of the resort, just a couple of minutes walk from the ski slopes. The rooms are simple and comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. The bath downstairs is spatious and very pleasant and the facilities for skying are very good, with even a drying room for ski gear! It was a great stay!

Well located guest house in Madarao. Staff were excellent and very hospitable. Lift to/from the main ski area each day as required but we often walked as it was so close and easy. We were picked up from and dropped off at local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively) by a staff member. Food was good particularly the one dinner we had at Maroudo. Onsen was a good temperature. Highly recommend.

Despite the heavy snowstorm disrupting transportation, they went above and beyond to assist us, ensuring we reached our destination smoothly. Their generosity didn’t stop there—they even brought our skis to the bus station, making our departure hassle-free. The warmth and hospitality we experienced made our trip even more special. Very friendly, family run pension. The staff are extremely friendly and inviting. It is very comfortable and the dinners and breakfasts are delicious, home-made Japanese dishes. Warm and good wifi. Excellent shared bathroom facilities plus a bathing area.
