Horgen is about 25 mins train from Zurich HB and 30 mins from Zurich airport It is a small town by Lake Zurich. The apartment is within walking distance from the train station and swimming facility. Excellent place to unwind and reboot.. Cost is a fraction of that in Zurich. We bought a rail pass that gives us unlimited rides in train, ferry, and bus in the whole zurich canton. This makes horgen an even better choice to stay. Although Chez Esther is a homestay, there is complete privacy as Esther is usually in her own room. Our own 26 sq m room has a desk, lounge area, TV, and many books. We have a dedicated toilet just outside our room solely for our use. We can use the oven and refrigerator. We can take our meals in one of two lovely terraces.

The spacious holiday home with a terrace and lake views features 2 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a flat-screen TV, an equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and an oven, and 2 bathrooms with a bath. The unit at the property features a shower and a dressing room. The property is spacious and characterful with many quirky and arty features together with many interesting books and information about the area . The property is well kitted out for home cooking with basic food supplies and equipment and extras like fondue set , bbq with wood etc . We were with our 2 grandchildren aged 7 and 9 who delighted in playing in the spacious fields , collecting eggs from the owners farm and visiting the sheep , horses and other animals . They were able to visit the hay loft and were able to use footballs , badminton racquets etc . The property is well connected by bus and train to Zürich city and is 5 minutes away from a fantastic swimming lake called Turlersee with paddleboarding , playground and family restaurant . The nearby Wildnispark is also brilliant for families with many animals in a beautiful natural setting . The owners are kind and thoughtful and considerate of children and did everything they could to make our holiday enjoyable . We were here for the Women’s football Euros and all its frenetic activity and the farmhouse provided a peaceful haven between games. Wine was left by the owners to purchase at a very reasonable price.
