The view from the terrace overlooking the greenery was absolutely breathtaking – a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The highlight was the food. They served some of the best local dishes I’ve ever had in Vietnam. Yen offers great value for money and is the perfect base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty of Cat Ba Island. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area – it’s a true hidden gem!

The room and the bed were excellent. Super large bed. Desk agents seemed a little over tasked but were delightful to talk to. Very good welcome.

The rooms and bathroom are fun and quite comfy. A little tight for space b/c the bed takes up most of the room, but great otherwise. JoyStay is on the quieter side of Cat Ba, so make sure you are comfortable renting and riding a motorbike beforehand. You can rent one at the property from Mr. Chuyen for super cheap. The owner was super helpful in getting us on a half-day cruise of the bay last minute before we left.

Lynh’s villa is a hidden gem- almost literally. you walk from the main road up a little alleyway past local houses, some of which look a little run down but when you enter into Lynh’s villa, it’s like a little pocket of paradise! beautiful reception/ dining area with many plants and gardens. Hotel is very clean, rooms have everything you need, bathroom with large shower, lovely little balcony overlooking the garden area. Family run hotel, staff very friendly and helpful- organised us to be picked up from our hotel in Hanoi and dropped off at their hotel. Also organised day cruise to Halong/ LAN ha bay which was amazing. Breakfast was home cooked to order- variety of choices. We also ate dinner at the hotel two nights- again varied menu and cooked fresh to order. Beautiful rooftop pool with sun loungers also.

CG and the rest of the staff are absolutely amazing. They went out of their way to ensure I had a great stay — not only at Eco Lodge but on the island of Cat Ba. The lodge has great recs about restaurants, scooters to rent, and is near a lake and the national park. Additionally, I loved CG’s dogs! Highly recommend this beautiful oasis as a place to get to know Cat Ba and other travelers. Would 10/10 stay here again and/or recommend to friends/family.
