AustraliaWe had a fantastic stay at this delightfully quirky pub, which also offers cozy accommodation. It's got a great mix of character and comfort – full of charm, a little ramshackle in the best possible way, but with all the mod cons you need like a reliable heater and a fridge in the room.
What really stood out was the warm hospitality. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating – they even cooked us a meal late on a Sunday night after we got back from a local sporting event, which was well above and beyond.
The pub still operates as a proper local with a casual, welcoming vibe, and there's even a small stage for live music, giving the place a laid-back creative feel. If you’re after something a bit different from your standard hotel, this is a real hidden gem.

Its a small town that offers delicious Pub meals . We ate at The American , a hotel with a fantastic bistro. Its close to Daylesford, close to Clunes and even Ballarat. What a lovely tranquil setting to just unwind for a couple of days, Very quaint property, nicely appointed, well done. To the young lady at the Hotel where we picked up the key, thank you, very welcoming. Beautiful little town with excellent facilities; parks, hotels/pubs, bakeries, etc. The team in the information centre were friendly and provided great ideas for activities for our weekend. We had our bikes and were surprised to find an excellent bike park with fun tracks for beginners through to advanced riders. Plenty of walking tracks also. There's some top class tennis courts if that's your thing - byo racket/balls. Did a driving tour of the mining history around the region - great information boards and scenic drive. Lovely location and accommodation.
Lovely location and accommodation. Management needs to update internet information. Great place for a weekender. Do not miss the Woolen Mill or the lake both worth a visit. Both pubs serve excellent food and Smokytown cafe serve excellent breakfasts.Guest review byPeterAustralia
