We were blown away by Terminus, which more than exceeded our expectations. The location is second to none - right across the road from the old Newcastle Station with its abundance of coffee shops, boutiques, and market stalls. It's also within walking distance of a number of pubs, Newcastle Beach, and multiple Light Rail stations. The room was large and comfortable, with modern conveniences and all you'd need for an extended stay. We particularly liked the balcony with a view of the city, the big bed, and the small touches such as a welcome bag of snacks and the way housekeeping decorated our bed to make it look like our daughter's stuffed animal was reading books. The front desk staff were always warm and courteous too. We've already booked a return trip next month!

We loved the size of the room and the massive window seat that I sat in with the afternoon sun..King bed was comfortable as were the pillows...And the double shower was so large and the beautiful Ellermise shower products were just lovely. We had dinner at West which was very convenient. And the coffee machine in the reception was well received...Parking was a bonus(no fee for parking).

The ocean view was delightful. The room was comfortable. The excellent restaurant meant we did not have to go out on an exceptionally hot evening. We loved access to the beach and Newcastle baths plus walks down Bather's Way and to Nobbys headland. Wonderful location.

There's no parking!! Streets are packed with cars.

There's no parking!! Streets are packed with cars. Pedestrian crossings every few metres - ridiculous!! Plus they hold up traffic. We didn't know about Nelson Bay and surrounding areas - next time we'll stay there instead of in the heart of Newcastle.

Have had a great day wandering around the now beautiful city...

Have had a great day wandering around the now beautiful city of Newcastle. My memories of this place from the 1970’s when we regularly passed through on the way to and from Sydney/Taree, were of a dirty, stinky, dark and dingy hole, with nothing to recommend it except the Hearties burgers and milkshakes that we could buy during rest stops. I came back during the early ‘90’s, and it still wasn’t much. Then in about 2005 I was here for an Early Childhood conference, and it was during the time that the Honeysuckle foreshore area was being redeveloped from the railway yards, wharves and warehouses, into the tourist precinct that it is now. Still not much to look at, because everything was boarded up and under construction. But now!!?? WOW!!! This city is beautiful. Still retains a lot of the old buildings, which have been beautifully restored and repurposed, but now also has a lot of new buildings. And parkland. Unrecognisable from the 1970’s. I enjoyed walking around the city and visiting the museums. The whale watching tour with Coast XP was a highlight. The Beehive at Honeysuckle is a great little cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Rydges is a delightful hotel to stay in. The light rail is a quaint touch.

Really enjoyed visiting Newcastle, the locals were friendly, had some great meals at the restaurants in Adamstown shops, just a short walk from the Cosmo Motel. Beach like atmosphere with great beaches close to town. Lots of great corner Aussie pubs in each suburb. About an hour away is the great sand dunes at Stockton beach, but found best accessed by Annes Beach.

City Hall was great for the Musica Viva Concert, Blackbutt Reserve was interesting and scenic with many native animals and birds well displayed. We had good food and coffee at CorEat. A ferry ride to Stockton was very pleasant. Art gallery in the old jail was worth visiting.

What pleasure to sit/walk and observe the Hunter River from the Newcastle foreshore. Delightful beaches are in easy access. So too Newcastle inner-city area. Stockton (on the northside of the river is worth an excursion and reminder to "old" Newcastle. Excellent train service to Maitland and bus services to other near locations.

The redeveloped port area and clever use of the railway facilities make this a delightful area to stay, and there are extensive attractions in the region. We ate at restaurants along the waterfront and shopped in the local area. All good.

Noah's is right on the beach in Newcastle and the views are excellent. This beach is very accessible and you can swim and surf. There are three cafes nearby, including one just across the road at the beach itself. Easy to walk into town, where there are pubs like The Grain store and The Lucky Hotel. The city streets of Newcastle have many beautiful old Victorian buildings that have been saved and now form part of its unique streetscape.

close to the venue we were attending for a family birthday (other guests stayed too as I recommended it being close) also near to station. we thought Hamilton was a great “buzzy” town with great diversity of eating places. We will definitely stay again as two of our grandchildren are now at Newcastle Uni. We appreciated the on site parking.
