    If you are going for shopping or to walk on the beach than...

    If you are going for shopping or to walk on the beach than you are in the right place. It has 2 big shopping moles and it has a nice place called Boa Viagem where I recommend you to go for some physical activity and even for a walk during the day. People are extremely friendly, but of course there is a lot of people bagging on the streets, the rich are too rich and the poor are extremely poor. I recommend you to go to the Capitão Gancho Pizzaria and Entre amigos o bode, both very nice places. The first one extremely local and the other one depends on which part of the restaurant you choose. Always take an uber specially if you don't speak the language. There are beaches "near by" 1h where you can swim with uber costing €21 or dollars one-way. Like for instance Porto de Galinhas Beach and city.

    Amazing historic centre (part repaired, part in state of ruin), a palace and arts centres so plenty to spend a day. With more time I would have headed out ot town to attractions 30-40 mins away. A bike tour was a good way to esplore the city. Recife combined with Olinda could be a 4 day trip

    Location is wonderful Beach is across the street Restaurants are one block down the street or downstairs In the lobby and the food was very nice The rooms need some upgrades and the bathrooms must get maintenance the water drainage issue is a problem and it needs upgrading to be more than a 3 star room. But the view was 4 star and the staff was 5

    I loved the locals, the culture, the beach, and the homeless people I fed while I was there. I liked the old center, the city in general I liked Olinda, and old town nearby that I should recommend. I like the Assai Supermarket and the Shopping Rio Mar. The Outlet restaurant at the shopping. The people are tall, beautiful, nice artists. I loved Recife and Porto de Galinhas and Praia dos Carneiros where I bought a flat. I live in Brasília, but have many friends in Araçatuba, São Paulo, where I was born and raised. They will all be in my flat when it is ready in 3 years.

    Recife used to be a beautiful city but crime and a bad...

    Recife used to be a beautiful city but crime and a bad economy made the city one of the less pleasant experience. Many shark attacks happen in two of the major beaches, Boa Viagem and Piedade. All the coast has sign alerting that swimming is not recommended. I don’t see a point of ever visiting this place again.

    Big city vibes, but with some nice parks and green areas and also the river that give a bit of alternative scenery. Some nice small museums, the beaches are nothing special, ask locals to show you spots for the evening/night.

    Prefect oasis in a busy carnival time in Recife . Super friendly staff from start to finish . Matthew and his excellent English and winning smile made our stay much more enjoyable with his recommendations and advice . Rooms and beds clean and comfortable , breakfast enormous and varied . I’m not sure Recife is really a ‘walkable city ‘ but this is steps from the beach and easy and cheap taxi fares to town and Olinda .

    Even though the hotel is located next to Recife airport, it is kind of hard to get there. This is not Ibis fault, however, and they have made a deal with the taxies that the transportation back and forth from the airport is only R$12 each way. The staff was friendly and helpful, making our layover nice and comfortable.

    For those wishing to stay at Boa Viagem, the hotel location is very convenient. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast was has a relatively wide variety of options, including hot dishes (omelette and tapioca). The personnel was consistently pro-active whenever I had to deal with them.
