We have had an amazing time at the Inn. The location is stunning and the views of the bay from the room were amazing. As other reviews mentioned too, for us this was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had somewhere. Fresh crab and prawns, caught by Meshell and Stephen in the bay. And to top that off, we even saw a bear walking along the shore on the other side of the bay while having breakfast. The hosts were always available for recommendations and were very hospitable. It's very worth it to take out the kayaks on to the bay, we had sea otters and seals swim up to the kayak and play around. Some of the most memorable experiences we have had during our trip to Canada were had during our stay at the Inn, we'd love to come back someday!

What Guests Said About Port Hardy:

Port Hardy is a seaport and connection point to the ferry...

Port Hardy is a seaport and connection point to the ferry service to more northern islands and coastal communities along BC's coast all the way to Prince Rupert. It is small, Indigenous-run community that has considerable services and courteous and competent staff at each point of service we experienced.

Port Hardy is central to many hiking trails and booking boat trips. Lots of good restaurants. I just wish that it would be possible to book half days fishing trips (only full days were available which is not ideal if you are afraid of the sea or this is your first boat trip).

Having an oceanside hotel was wonderful to see the tide...

Having an oceanside hotel was wonderful to see the tide ebbing and flowing, plus the eagles and seals. People we met in the town were very personable. Unfortunately, the Visitor Centre was closed on Saturday and Sunday, which was most upsetting because they had the Port Hardy T-shirts that we wanted for souvenirs. The Port Hardy Heritage Society in the museum and the West Coast Community Craft Shop were great places to procure some wonderful souvenirs.

I loved the views of Port Hardy, but shopping in the Mall was not a great , the toilet situation was not a good experience, I would say a young person aprox 20 to 25 yrs old was in the toilet for about 1/2hr, scary as I think he was using drugs, There were several of us waiting to use the facility

Need a car to get around.

Need a car to get around. Book tours etc before you go as very little information or advertising when you get there. We maybe should have done this and we would have found something to do!. There are walking trails but not very well advertsied. Beautiful untouched and natural scenery around that area. Telegraph Cove is a must.. Not many places to eat and very few shops.

Port Hardy is a beautiful city, but not many options for coffee shops or places to stop in for a drink other that the restaurants in the hotels. Lots of places to explore and walking trails by the Harbour and met some locals fishing off the pier by the Marina. If one brought their fishing rods, this would be a nice way to spend some time. I could have easily stayed 2-3 nights here but it's generally used as a hub for Cape Scott or BC Ferries heading up the Inside Passage. The nature here is next to none and lots of food options in the Save on Foods for those wanting to eat in. There is a BC Liquor store which has everything else you might need.

Breakfast was good Sausages were very nice flavour There were beans and egg “cakes” potato chunks Also cereals, porridge packs, yogurt, and bread, buns and bagels to toast, packaged waffles. Juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate Enough for everyone We had a late dinner in pub, we shared nachos which were good. We had a great server, Darren from Dublin and also talked to Mac who is from Port Hardy. Great sleep Comfortable beds.

Although we arrived when a storm had passed by, lots of wind, we were received very warmly by the receptionist. He gave us directions of what could happen during, warning of falling trees on the roads and parks, because strong winds were expected and rains during the night. The room with access to the parking facilitated the bringing in of the travelling bags. Beds very comfy. Quiet. Definitely recomend the Hotel.

Location was good as were were catching the ferry to Pr. Rupert early the next morning. The hotel prepared to "to go" bag for breakfast which was very good. We enjoyed the location above the marina and able to walk around the property with nice view.

The renovations are done beautifully! The decor is modern and comfortable! The cedar used throughout the hotel smells amazing and fresh. Loved the balcony with the table outside, had my dinner out there and was wonderful being near the beach!
