FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square - Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbours Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Opposite Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Centre for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World-Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys whose traditional architecture contrasts with wider, modern roads including Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the north-east.

Beijing is such a great place.

Beijing is such a great place. I felt so safe walking around the streets and parks with my grandmother at night. The place so well lit up and the people are so nice. This was my Grandmother's first time in Beijing and she said would definitely come back because of the people.

Beijing is a must-see for anyone travelling to China, I recommend a few days there. The Forbidden City, the Great wall and the Summer palace are must-see for anyone interested in historical architecture and experiencing an ancient culture. However, there is also plenty to do besides that - the hutongs are an amazing way to experience traditional culture in the modern day, as well as buy handmade souvenirs and jewellery. There are massive modern shopping centres with plenty of Chinese and international brands. There are traditional restaurants and swanky modern bars. There is also Gubei water town, offering a great day-trip for anyone wishing to see a bit of nature and quaint town houses. Beijing offer something for everyone.

Beijing is a very vibrant and exciting city. Lots of historical and cultural sights. But foreign visitors need to be very well prepared as it can be very difficult to communicate with the Chinese because a great percentage don't speak or understand English.

Spend the time exploring the places of interest, especially forbidden city, we were there for 3 hours. We also tried pottery, and spent about 4 hours at the museum and making a ceramic bowl. The culture and history is rich and worth your time exploring the city in a slower pace than rushing to tick off checklist.

Our family had a wonderful experience staying at the Crowne Plaza Beijing Lido, an IHG Hotel. The staff was accommodating and warm, especially Mrs. Wang Hai Li, who was very patient in answering all our queries and kindly upgraded our standard king room to a one-bedroom suite with a view of the bath for free. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of options. The location was very good and easily accessible to the metro and international airport. There are many good restaurants nearby. We would come back to this hotel again.

Fantastic staff. A special Thank you to Hannah for going above and beyond in your treatment and helping me and making my stay feel very comfortable. You helped me with my stay in Beijing and gave good tips and tricks to ensure I had the best time in China. What was especially nice was how accommodating Hannah was and ensured I had breakfast despite me having to check out very early. Great comfortable hotel with good amenities. 10 out of 10

Very lovely and neat hutong-style hotel with excellent public transport options to all places across Beijing as well as Capital Airport. The rooms are clean and have everything one might need for a good city trip experience. Super friendly staff who are happy to help you organize all kind of sightseeing in the city and make reservations which can be tricky for some places (like Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, National Museum etc.).

We had a 24-hour transfer at Beijing Daxing International Airport. Have chosen this Hotel which is situated right at the airport (you don't even need to go outside the building). Our stay was perfect and exceeded expectations. The room was spacious, clean and beautiful. All the staff is polite and attentive. The beds are comfy. Will definitely choose this hotel next time.
