Tilarán is such a beautiful town located in the mountains by Lake Arenal. It's charm lies in the fact that it's less touristy than the surrounding towns, so you are able to escape during your escape. It's a perfect location for lake activities/excursions and there are great places to stop for coffee or a meal. We stayed at Playa Tila and have nothing but great things to say about it! Tilaran is a super nice and authentic local's town in the mountains directly by beautiful lake Arenal, less touristy than La Fortuna and Arenal. In "Tila" you'll find everything you need for your convenience: Local shops, supermarkets, a nice gym, etc. It's a great base for all kinds of excursions, i.e. around the lake (paddleboard, kayak, catamaran, jet ski, windsurfing, kite surfing...), bicycle tours in the mountains, yoga retreats, etc. Most fun place to stay in Tilaran: Playa Tila!Guest review byJoschkaPortugal
