It was easy to walk around the city. Lots of interesting sites and museums. Particularly enjoyed the Dom. We did try a few of restaurants and cafes, some good and some less so. Good ice cream at a little cafe just a few yards from the Dom. Food there quite reasonable too. Excellent service. We were there on Unity Day so none of the shops were open, we did see the Cathedral which was well worth the visit as it was magnificent. Beautiful city, however, I think a 1-night trip is enough if you just want to see the city. We flew in on Friday evening and out on Sunday night, but we feel we would have been happy leaving on Saturday night. Please remember that most shops and other places don't open on Sundays, so we were walking around trying to find things to do. I highly recommend climbing the cathedral tower if you are able. Walking through this city was amazing! I felt like I was walking inside a fairytale storybook. Everywhere I turned there was something else to see. From museums to plazas, restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, street food vendors, and ancient history. So much ancient history! The city has a mixture of medieval and neo-gothic architecture, right next to modern new buildings. A sight to see! The river really gives the city a nice vibe. The streets smell like a mixture of international foods, but my favorite was the smell of cinnamon from fresh crepes and waffles being served just about everywhere. In the evening, the plazas filled up with people walking their dogs or families with small children running around and sharing their laughter. It is a very vibrant, welcoming and friendly city. There are plenty of traditional brewery pubs with character ie Fruh, Gaffels Kolsh, Malzmuhle, Reissdorf. Very good atmosphere for beer drinkers. Very picturesque walking alongside the River Rhine at one of its widest points.
