I absolutely loved the design, style, and the detail in the room and bathroom. The timber floors, the stony walls, the amazing huge and comfy bed, the porcelain cups, the L'Occitane cosmetics, and the window facing a historical part of the town hall- all this was wonderful and made my stay extremely pleasant. I also appreciated that the hotel was located only a short walking distance from the Cologne Cathedral and the main train station.

Ambiance. We stayed in V8 Motorworld in Stuttgart (also cool), but this one is cooler! Lobby - very nicely decorated and cozy at the same time. Guy at the reception was very nice. Rooms - pictures say it for themselves: thematic rooms are worth it just for the looks. In the hotel a bunch of fancy eateries. And of course cars. If if you're not a petrolhead - i bet you will be impressed

This is a beautiful little gem. Walking distance to the bridges, and very close to public transportation. We also enjoyed the restaurants on this side of the river. The room and bathroom were really large and beautifully decorated. Staff was wonderful.

We really enjoyed our long weekend stay at Hotel Wessel. The hosts were lovely and caring. They found time to chat with us and made us feel like family. They greeted us with a glass of local beer. The guesthouse and the restaurant were nicely decorated with interesting antique items. Almost like being in a museum! The facilities were clean and comfortable. Local specialties served. The room had everything you might possibly need during your stay. The breakfast was delicious.

    Beautiful city, however, I think a 1-night trip is enough if you just want to see the city. We flew in on Friday evening and out on Sunday night, but we feel we would have been happy leaving on Saturday night. Please remember that most shops and other places don't open on Sundays, so we were walking around trying to find things to do. I highly recommend climbing the cathedral tower if you are able. Stunning views!

    Walking through this city was amazing!

    Walking through this city was amazing! I felt like I was walking inside a fairytale storybook. Everywhere I turned there was something else to see. From museums to plazas, restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, street food vendors, and ancient history. So much ancient history! The city has a mixture of medieval and neo-gothic architecture, right next to modern new buildings. A sight to see! The river really gives the city a nice vibe. The streets smell like a mixture of international foods, but my favorite was the smell of cinnamon from fresh crepes and waffles being served just about everywhere. In the evening, the plazas filled up with people walking their dogs or families with small children running around and sharing their laughter. I would return in a heartbeat!

    It is a very vibrant, welcoming and friendly city. There are plenty of traditional brewery pubs with character ie Fruh, Gaffels Kolsh, Malzmuhle, Reissdorf. Very good atmosphere for beer drinkers. Very picturesque walking alongside the River Rhine at one of its widest points. The majestic Koln Dom stands handsomely in the city centre right next to the main central railway station, extremely iconic.

    All the sights and sounds were a delight.

    All the sights and sounds were a delight. But it is a large city and has a homelessness problem around the main station - did not spoil the trip but was very sad to see. Also, go to Wuppertal for the overhead railway, only 30 minutes train ride from Koln

    2 days walking around was very easy and this is a city easy to navigate, don't miss the chocolate museum, plenty of other museums to check out as well as the old cathedral and churches. make sure you try some of the many Kolsch's available if you like beer, and check out Peter's Brewery though bookings may be necessary as this is a popular place with locals.

    Cologne is a charming city with a rich history, but in terms of sightseeing and activities, it feels more like a short stopover than a destination for an extended stay. The iconic Cologne Cathedral is definitely worth visiting — it’s an architectural masterpiece and the standout attraction in the city. The surrounding old town is pleasant for a walk, with some cozy cafés, bars, and local shops. However, beyond that, there isn’t a whole lot to see or do. The city center is relatively small, and most major sights can be comfortably explored in a day or two. If you're someone who enjoys museums, there are a few decent options like the Ludwig Museum (for modern art) or the Roman-Germanic Museum, but they’re not must-sees unless you're particularly interested in those topics. Overall, Cologne is a nice city for a quick visit — great for a weekend trip or a short stop between other destinations in Germany. Just don’t expect a wide variety of attractions or experiences. It’s cozy, convenient, and has a laid-back vibe, but it likely won’t fill more than 1–2 days of your itinerary.

    We had 3 great nights in this hotel; it has character, in a top location (very close to a metro stop) and in a lively neighbourhood with a supermarket next door and many restaurants in the area, just walking distance away, which is really nice after a long day of exploring the city centre. The breakfast was good, with a variety of options to choose from. Vegan options too, which we apreciated. Cologne is very vegan friendly anyway, almost all restaurants had many vegan options.

    Hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the city centre, there are a few shops and restaurants around the area. The staff were very helpful and friendly, our room was very clean and average size for a city hotel. There is a restaurant in the hotel but we didn't eat there also there is a small bar where you can sit and relax at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for a short stop over in the beautiful city of Cologne.

    This boutique hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from Kölner Dom and Cologne Main Train Station. We've been given one of their newly renovated rooms which we found pleasing and stylish. Separate shower and toilet with Rituals toiletries! Beds are comfortable..not too soft and hard. Cons: The hallway is dark. Maybe additional lighting would enhance more the hallway decors.
