This was my first visit here as a tourist.
This was my first visit here as a tourist. I was not disappointed by the variety of activities on offer although I chose to walk around the central district a lot and admire the wide variety of architectural styles. I was surprised at the lack of small cafes and bars on the central district and the dearth of public toilets available there. Hotel and restaurant staff were invariably courteous and helpful. My brother had his phone stolen in an outside bar area but in retrospect this could have been avoided. Restaurants of all types were good and we managed to avoid pork knuckle and curry wurst. Public transport is easy to navigate and frequent. It's astonishing that this city does not get more attention. Great music scene and museums. Restaurants and shopping can compete with any city in Europe, maybe with the exception of London and Paris. Hamburg offers a wealth of wonderful museums and classical music venues and is very easy to get around. Buy a three or five day public transport pass at the airport or train station: you will still clock up daily steps as there is so much to see! The rooms were large and ours were very quiet as they gave on to the court yard. The hotel is located on the second floor which made it feel very safe, you cannot just wander in. Although, there was no breakfast, very nice tea and coffee were served at the reception plus really yummy butter croissants, for free. I would definitely stay there again.
