Spectacular roman site, lovely historic town centre, large, beautiful cathedral. Good, easy parking, nice cafés and restaurants. Two large lakes for water sports. Beautiful surroundings on the banks of the Rhine, easy to reach and only some 2hrs drive to the coast/UK ferries. Friendly, helpful people.

The archaeological park is a fantastic site to visit and the town is extremely attractive. Also the shops are worth visiting. good for those who like walking as there are a number of walks around local lakes.

Lovely area along the Rhine.

Lovely area along the Rhine. Xanten is a lovely town with Roman archeology and a fine cathedral amongst many old buildings. We loved the decorated donkeys! Had an enjoyable two-hour trip on the North and South Lakes.

Xanten is a perfect small town to be visited over the course...

Xanten is a perfect small town to be visited over the course of a weekend. It is small enough to walk around and visit all the landmarks or museums you are interested in. Don't forget to spend half a day in the Archaelogischen Park Xanten, just outside the city center! Another recommendation is to sit down at the terraces or inside any of the restaurants. Also the icecream shops are a must do!

I arrived by bicycle and was made very welcome - a garage was made available to store the bike. There is a popular and good quality Greek restaurant which is the main focus of the establishment. I had a pleasant meal eating in the open air (it was a warm evening). The accommodation is fairly basic, but is clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb with too much to eat and I was offered a bag to take the surplus away. Xanten is a pleasant 5km cycle ride away and well worth a visit.

The house is excelent value for service. The owner was very kind, as agreed he was wayting for us even before we arrived. We had no issues at all. The house is big and comfortable. All facilities work with no issues, the kitchen is great and allows for own cooking. There is also a garden which can be used for grilling and relaxing. For us definitely higher value then a hotel.

This was a gem of a find. We travelled from UK for a wedding and hotel was fully booked. This place was perfect - clean, quiet, easy to get to and with a fantastic pool. It was a bit quirky too which we liked. Good communication and friendly staff.

The apartment is beautiful and the little details make a big difference. We really enjoyed our stay. The flexibility of check-in with pin code was also really nice because we arrived really late so we didn't stress about disturbing the owners so late.
