We visit Sønderborg quite often. It's location at the Baltic Sea and close to the German border make it an attractive location for a day trip or weekend escape. Sønderborg is a good location for some days to explore the town, surrounding nature and the historical monuments. The castle and Dybbøl are both important parts of the history of Denmark. The town houses a top restaurant (Hotel Alsik) and several restaurant with a more normal price range. We enjoyed a dinner in the Mongolian restaurant which has many well prepared dishes (buffet), beer and wine to fair prices. Perhaps not Michelin style, but we enjoyed it very much and several dishes were excellent; my wife loved the crispy vegetables, and I loved the barbecued pork ribs with frites and the fried seafood.Guest review byNordjyllandDenmark - 10

Check in and check out is effortless and it's easy to get in touch with the hosts. Sønderborg is a charming town and there are many options for hiking, running and cycling very closeby.
