We stayed at La Maronniere it was a wonderful experience. The house is beautiful, located in a quiet village of Challignac in the Poitou-Charentes region. The hosts were very kind and allowed us an early check-in. Upon arrival, we found a warm welcome with fresh baguette, muffins, cheese, butter, and chilled water in the fridge. The apartment was clean, cozy, and well-equipped. We loved the spacious shower, the large comfortable bed, and the mix of modern renovation with charming original wooden beams. In the evening, we enjoyed a peaceful walk through the owners’ vineyards and the quiet village. Paul also offers excellent local wine at a great price. Great value for money, peaceful atmosphere, and outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended!

Everything! Patrick, the host and owner of the property is my new friend! He was welcoming and friendly despite my limited French! Property is ideally located in Condeon directly opposite the only bar and restaurant. On site parking. Apartment is an entire floor above Patrick's house accessed by what is quite a steep set of stairs so beware. However, it has 3 spacious bedrooms, kitchen and seating area with TV, Hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge with freezer shelf so completely self contained. All spotlessly clean and tidy. Quirky floor adds to the warm and welcoming feeling. Outside seating area with access to fridge and food prep area again add to the welcoming feel. Merci Beacoup Patrick!

Cannot recommend, was so disappointed with the accommodation beyond the reception (located in the restaurant bar) despite having paid we returned our keys and checked again within about 30mins. Its perfect for lonely lorry drivers I guess.

Barbezieux is unfortunately a ghost town.

Barbezieux is unfortunately a ghost town. Mid August, 70% of the shops were empty (permanently closed) and there was nowhere to get a coffee except the hotel. Very little shade, nowhere nice to stroll after a long car journey.

I reserved the room thru Booking.com and was informed the...

I reserved the room thru Booking.com and was informed the price of the room was €45-00 Total . The Hotel overcharged me taking £48-83 Sterling . The Hotel doesn't want to rectify this neither do Booking.com . Relais de Barbezieux doesn't show on my statement so Booking.com refuse to rectify the overcharge ! The Hotels insist they are correct ! Will be booking future hotels thru a different website !

This is a Relais hotel aimed at truck drivers. However it's in an ideal location for me as I drive through France and Spain. The hotel rooms are quite basic but clean and functional. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which does a good evening meal with beer or wine. Breakfast is good value too but a little basic - coffee, orange juice and croissant and bread roll with butter and jam. It's a 25 minute walk to the village of Barbezieux which has some bars and restaurants.

Warm welcome. Great garden to the rear of the hotel - perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a gentle evening meal. Really good food and decent quality wine at reasonable (hotel) prices. The room was well equipped and spacious and the bed was super-comfy and large. Our room overlooked the rear gardens and was very quiet. The opportunity to park our car overnight in a locked garage was a definite bonus.

The hotel is centrally located in this small town with free garage parking. The staff are lovely, very helpful. The rooms are not expensive and nice and big, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. We had a good meal in the restaurant and enjoyed our overnight stop.
