A very scenic town centre. A good supermarket and several specialist shops (bookshop especially) . just try and avoid the sweetshop (far too tempting) Several nice restaurants and an excellent fish and chip shop. Ballater is a lovely village.
Ballater is a lovely village. Very clean and tidy as you would expect being so close to Balmoral Castle. Beautiful hanging baskets outside the shops Plenty of cafes and gift shops. Lovely village green around the Church in the centre of Ballater with seating areas . Free car park and free parking around the Church. Lovely village to visit or stay. It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have stayed in on our trip we had been away for 4 weeks and this place by far the very best. Homemade cakes and a great breakfast. We had a sauna in our lodge and a bath which was a spa pool ..bliss The staff were lovely A lady phoned me a few days before just to check everything and she was kind and really helpful The place is near to Ballater, a lovely town with a co-op and bakers etc. and so easy to get to the place driving through the Cairngorms.
