This largest village in UK was a perfect centre to explore. Barnstaple and Ilfracombe were a short distance away, with regular busses. From the Barnstaple you could catch the train to Exeter. The area is quite unspoilt - it has spectacular views and is a very attractive area - plenty for the family , safe bathing - local shops are very friendly and have local produce for sale . Also a weekly market and craft fair . Be prepared for traffic in and around Braunton during the day , but it is worth it when you get there. For those interested in seeing butterflies and being close to nature , the downs are the place to explore , as well as the sand dunes . All the amenities you need in a very pleasant village and we used both restaurants recommended by our hosts which were also great, one of which we used for both breakfast out and an evening meal (Duck Dive - highly recommend) We were playing golf at Saunton Golf Club so Braunton was a great venue for this being just a 5 minute drive awayGuest review byAndy

We were playing golf at Saunton just down the road and rather than have a long travel back after a super day, we decided to have a 'lay over' and head off in the morning. So although it was a very short stay, we enjoyed the spa, dinner in the restaurant, and breakfast the following morning before heading home. High spec and comfortable interior makes it feel like a boutique hotel. We only stayed 2 nights for a wedding but I would return for a longer time.
