FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

It's a city steeped in history with many interesting attractions and things to see and do. Dining options are eclectic and reasonable value for money; we ate well. Transport is efficient and reliable with the railway station giving many options to travel from Bristol to other cities of interest. The 90 minute service to London is excellent although it is busy.

Best places to visit include the SS Great Britain and the M Shed (a free to enter museum) which are quite close together along the waterfront. Also the cathedral was vey interesting. Lots of cafes and restaurants everywhere. Use of the water ferry a bonus to get from place to place. We even used the ferry to get to the railway station at the end of our trip.

Having eloped to Bristol in the 1960s and spent 10 years there, I recently returned and was very disappointed and appalled that the city has become horrible to view. The City Council are a disgrace. A once-beautiful City has become an eyesore, a dump. God forgive the City planners. The people deserve better.

A city of 2 personalities: Exciting, vibrant, community-driven, great food and music scene. At the same time it is highly unpleasant: Drugs, homeless, dirty, unsafe, no-go areas and car crime. It's a melting pot. Be prepared.

Even though the hotel and staff was amazing l found the breakfast was not what l expected , the buffet breakfast was poor quality and bordering on cold , l have stayed at many hotels in the Bristol city centre area and it was the worst l have had to put up with , l did complain at reception and expected to get at least some remuneration , which wasn’t forthcoming , obviously because of this l will not stay stay at this hotel again

The staff were very helpful. Rooms were clean. Location was quiet. The breakfast was good with a nice selection. It is easy to walk to the city centre & river. Car parking was useful albeit limited spaces & £20:00 fee for 24 hours.. Bristol is a very interesting city to visit. We enjoyed our brief stay. We would recommend this hotel.
