We had lots of space in our room. It was very close to a train station so we were able to easily get to Cardiff. Steve was very helpful and friendly and he made a good breakfast.

This is a little piece of heaven. The view was stunning, the facilities were excellent and the hosts were brilliant. I cannot fault the experience, so much so we booked to stay an extra whilst we were there because we just didn't want to leave such a glorious location. I really recommend staying here, we cannot wait to go back.

We loved this off-the-beaten-path pub and small B&B (just three rooms; book early if this appeals), In the heart of an a rural village known for iron and slate mining, this village is adorable and nestled in the outskirts of Cardiff. We found the staff friendly, particularly Adam and the owners took much pride in their establishment. The rooms were well-equipped, quiet, comfortable. Like old world pub style, we chatted with other patrons as though old friends. Would have stayed more nights if our travels allowed. Pub food and breakfast were delicious and artfully presented.

We were driving from London to Cardiff and really wanted to stay in a beautiful hotel that wasn't in the heart of Cardiff. Luckily, I found this beautiful hotel up on a hill overlooking Cardiff about 20 minutes away. Built in an old estate, the New House Country Hotel is truly magnificent. We were originally only going to spend one night there but after I saw it - I extended the stay to 2 days which the staff were luckily able to do for us. We had one of the larger suites (Superior Double Room) that had a nice big, comfy bed, a sitting room and a really large bathroom with 2 sinks, a separate shower and a nice big bathtub. It also had 2 heated towel racks, which was really nice. The staff were all very friendly and made lots of recommendations to us for meals, and things to see. One of them even suggested that we drive to Caerphilly Castle and park our car there and take the train to Cardiff, which is exactly what we did and were very appreciative of it. The patio out front is really large and has a covered area, but we sat out by the fountain and marvelled at the impressive views of Cardiff and the rolling countryside. Our room was very quiet and nice and dark at night. Sometimes there are wedding parties that might come through so it might be a little noisier then. Breakfasts were huge and plentiful and very tasty. We had dinner there our first night and it was really quite delicious and not too expensive. Compared to London, everything in Cardiff is downright cheap - this room was $219 (Canadian Dollars) per night and truly worth every cent. If we ever return to Wales this is the ONLY hotel that we would even think of staying at!! Highly Recommended!!

Very nice apartment with good parking in front.

Very nice apartment with good parking in front. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable living area and bedrooms. The dining area was a bit small for 4 adults, but the outdoor area was good. We liked Caerphilly and enjoyed visiting the castle although parking in that area was difficult to find.

The castle grounds were delightful.

The castle grounds were delightful. Good for exercising and leisure. Unfortunately we stayed for just the week-end (to visit Cardiff half-marathon) plus Monday night and the local restaurants do not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Our accommodation was perfect for the four of us within easy reach of local amenities with onsite parking for one car. The artisan bakery was a brilliant find. Easy access to train stations with direct access to Cardiff.

Caerphilly isn't a beautiful town, but it's a great place to stay for stunning scenery half an hour away in the Brecon Beacons. It's ace is the Caerphilly Castle which is the second largest in the UK and should be on your bucket list.

For business and just an overnight stay, we didn't spend a great deal of time exploring. I would definitely revisit though. Roads are clearly marked and there is lots of car parks or on street parking depending on the length of your stay. Quite hilly in some areas so worth driving around for 5 minutes to find somewhere more suitable if needed. Morrisons has a large car park limited to 3 hours. We visited the Courthouse for an evening meal and would highly recommend this pub. It's just lovely! Plenty of seating both inside and outside, with a view of the castle. Food and drink was good and the staff were polite and friendly. We also visited the Piccadilly for a game of pool. A quieter pub (Tuesday) but both locals and staff friendly.
