We are senior travelers and the fact that we were on the top floor was an issue for us, however Glenn was fantastic as he assisted me in getting the cases upstairs. When I booked we were advised that if we came there would be no assistance, however he was so nice and gave me the help I needed. Glenn and his wife were incredibly friendly and I would return anytime. They gave us good advice on what to do in Hawes and we completed our stay with a wonderful breakfast. Thanks again to Glenn & Liz.

On our first stay in 2019 we did a lot of walking and looking at incredible waterfalls. On our second stay in 2025 it was raining most of the time as a storm came through, but it didn't stop us getting out for two days of visiting Bolton Castle with an excellent tour, Grassington (where All Creatures Great and Small was staged) and a very interesting small historical museum, Wensleydale and of course, lunch and cheeses at Wensleydale Creamery Cafe!

Lovely town, excellent walking and mountain biking riding location, excellent accommodation in rented house. Good pubs for drinking in but sadly the food is all a bit dated and 1970's. Fish and chip shop was excellent. Curry house disappointing but the cafe's were excellent.

Hawes is a great place for a day visit or a longer stay.

Hawes is a great place for a day visit or a longer stay. For a meal out, The Wensleydale Pantry receives our highest recommendation and we've had many years of experience with it. Most of the cafes are very good, Penny Garth is OK with you don't mind sharing it with dozens of motorcyclists! Parking is easy just on the edge of town, good walks to Hardraw Falls and there's a great deal to see in the area so it makes a great base. First visited 50 years ago and always happy to be there so I think I can make honest suggestions.

Hawes is a beautiful Dales town ringed by scenic fells set in North Yorkshire. It is small and picturesque with soaring views all around and some lovely little shops including the Wensleydale Creamery where you can buy authentic Wensleydale cheese.

The setting of this hotel is quintessentially Dales country. It sits on its own about a mile from Hawes. There is a footpath into town and there are at least a couple of walks that pass closeby They have kept the character intact, and there are some very comfortable public rooms. There are also a few nooks in the garden where you can experience peace. My room was on the small side but was very clean and comfortable. Not cordon bleu but good quality food, well cooked, and a great breakfast.

Property is a small one bed ground floor cottage. It has a back yard with seating and plenty of space inside for a couple. We were touring the Lakes and Dales and this was perfect for a few nights stay. Basics like, tea, milk, butter, bread and scones were provided which was great. Hawes is a nice old market town with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops as well as a Masham and Wensleydale Cheese centre so enough to do. Right in the heart of Wensleydale with wonderful countryside.

Amazing room, clean (albeit a few cobwebs), very spacious, and well furnished with a comfy bed. No extracter fan in loo, though. Staff amazingly friendly upon arrival and throughout stay. Strict check-in time of 3pm no flexibility but no problem as we had a couple of beers which were nice, but bar nearly deserted (Thursday afternoon) Breakfast served next-door at cocketts Hotel, I'm gathering the owner have the board inn too.

Location is convenient - close to several pubs, 3 minute walk to Wensleydale Creamery, 3 km from the Hardraw Force Waterfall. Free parking on the street in front of the hotel, unless you stay on Monday morning during the town market, when parking on the street is disallowed. English cooked breakfast included in price.
