It was a stopover for us. If I had known more about the region we would have orranged an extra night. We did do a tour of the Dalwhinnie Distillery on our way south which was great. Make a booking - we were lucky as we hadn't made a one but there was two extra spots. Loved the Duke of Gordon hotel. So very old school and so beautiful. Kingussie is a beautiful town, brilliantly located in the middle of Scotland, within reach of many wonderful sites of interest, including historic Ruthven Barracks, a number of castles and gardens, the stunning Cairngorms, and much more. Kingussie is a lovely little town in a beautiful setting in the Scottish Highlands. Beware, most cafes and shops are closed on Sundays and some on Mondays too! We ate at The Star Hotel which has friendly staff, good food and is very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. The town is very charming and the hotel is well renovated and comfortable. We were very surprised by how accommodating they were. They were out of their way to help us find dinner the first day when we arrived to town a bit later, we were lucky they had chefs around that day for another group. Thanks Sam and team for that.
