Location was great, bus stop on the street and also an easy walk to the town, the property had ample parking off the street and was in a very quiet part of Colchester. The accommodation was a self contained room at the back of the house, very cozy. We were given keys to the room and front door to come and go, the breakfast room was in main house and the host put on a super breakfast!

The hotel is quite close to the city and offers everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and staff is extremely friendly. We really felt welcome. Special thats to Julie, who was a wonderful and attentive host, providing lots of extra information on what to visit in the city and where to go for dinner. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We arrived quite late at 7:30pm. The staff member on reception was very friendly and accommodating and advised that we had been upgraded to the newly renovated rooms as they had availability. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable and well provisioned. I have been lucky enough to stay in a couple of fancy hotels, including Hayman Island on the Great Barrier Reef, and the rooms we had at Marks Tey were on a par and better than those hotel rooms. Excellent value for money for our last-minute booking. Menu looked tasty and great value, but we had already eaten so didn't try the food on this occasion.

    Surprised this property was featured in Booking.com.

    Surprised this property was featured in Booking.com. It was not suitable at all. There was no heating, shower cubicle not fit for adults. Not clear about using the kitchen as this is private space used by hosting family. Advert should have stated the room is part of house used by the hosting family.
