We had an amazing three night stay - the weather was 30degC and more every single day. The staff at the hotel were absolutely spot on - really helpful, very friendly and happy to chat. The pool is amazing and it was great to see how popular it is. Great walking routes from the hotel as well and a good bus service - we dined in Matlock one night. Quite handy for Donington Park too. I like the shops in Matlock, especially The Victorian Emporium. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants & bars as well. I travel down from Scotland when my friend is playing guitar & singing at Folk Festivals in the Derbyshire area. I eat at various restaurants, to try them out. I like to find out which one suits me best. There are always good music venues in the Derbyshire area, & plenty of choice. The only disappointment was a bus that didn't arrive on the time stated, & my train to Matlock was cancelled from Derby Railway Station. I had to wait for a replacement bus, for over an hour & a half. It didn't arrive at all, but they put a taxi to Matlock on for me, & I got to my hotel at 1.00 on Sunday morning ! I come down on the train around 3 times a year. ( I didn't bring my camera, so I have no photographs to add.) I haven't had time to try any local attractions, like the ones mentioned below. Fab historic town in the Derbyshire Dale's.
Fab historic town in the Derbyshire Dale's. There are plenty of walks either along the riverside down through Matlock Dale to Matlock bath as well as Tor's for more adventurous walkers. There is also a cable car which takes you up to experience the old lead mining caverns a really good day out. Plenty of shops and restaurants for food as well as a big village park centrally.Guest review byLauren

The bedroom was a good size and easily accommodated our two suitcases with plenty of extra room to walk around. Only a short walk to Matlock town centre. Matlock itself was ideally situated for the activities we had planned in the Peaks/Dales. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Our room on the top floor was spacious with a large comfortable bed. It also had a pleasant view, was well equipped and being high surprisingly free of road noise. Breakfast choices were pre ordered, served hot, extremely tasty and good ingredients. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful, the attraction discount voucher and 4pm -11am parking pass were very useful. They had tea coffee biscuits and cold water in the room. My room had a private bathroom with towels. The garden was lovely and even had a long lead to tie my dog to. Breakfast was genuinely phenomenal and all super fresh. Owners were so accommodating and the location was perfect to access the cable car, town centre and aquarium. Really cheap for the experience. Its a lovely old building with nice grounds. The newer building block has been refurbished and benefits from having a balcony.
