Be aware that this village is at the bottom of a very steep hill. It's quaint, with a few shops, and decent places to eat. The beach is rocky, and not a swimming beach, and completely covered at high tide. Beautiful village by the bay.
Beautiful village by the bay. The little cottages and cobbled street are very picturesque. The Robin Hoods Bay museum in the village was very interesting indeed. There are quirky little shops, cafes and a couple of very nice pubs and Tea and Toast do some excellent bacon toasties. There is no parking in the old village but there are car parks at the top of the hill in the newer part. Be aware if you have mobility issues this ,unfortunately ,is probably not the place for you. Robin Hoods Bay is one of our favourite places to visit. We try to have a break there every year. It is a beautiful place with the most rewarding walks and steeped in history with fascinating places to visit like the Abbey, beautiful old churches, and quirky shops selling wonderful things. Robin Hoods Bay, we opted for a self catering 3 night stay. The Bay is full of charm. Wonderful place to visit. Dog friendly beach. Beach combing for Whitby Jet and fossils at low tide. A must visit. The beach disappears at high tide but the Cleveland ways takes you both North and South on cliff top walks. Smugglers Wine bar was wonderful, we opted for a takeaway as we had the dog, lovely Pepperoni Pizza and home made chorizo, cheese burger, chips and coleslaw. All piping hot. And a lovely glass of Larger while I waited. The Fish Box. Traditional fish and chips shop with amazing sea views and has take-away seating inside and out, all cooked fresh, I had the large haddock chips and curry. A great base for the Whitby area, and a heavenly place to come back to after a busy day. The walk down to Robin Hoods Bay is a delight and not difficult. We had some great pub meals locally at the Fylingdales Inn in the village, Hare and Hounds (Tasker) and Victoria Hotel pub (RHB). Janet and Steve are a lovely couple and very knowledgable about the area. Although this is a vegetarian hotel and we are not vegetarians this was not a problem. The full english breakfast was good quality food and set us up for the day. Janets homemade sourdough bread was really nice.
