This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from...
This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. Tarbert was a location I needed to visit for my book project. I had been here before. It is close to Saddell Abbey and Skipness Castle and the Tarbert Castle in town is worth the climb. Tarbert's history is also iinteresting.Guest review byPatUnited States - 10
Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay.
Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay. We were there with glorious sunshine so views of Tarbert habour were amazing, picture post card stuff. There are a few restaurants and pubs. Tarbert is still a traditional fishing village. Sadly the only bank has now closed and there are a few empty shops. But, there are some great restaurants and gift shops, beautiful scenery and this is perfect base to go sightseeing in the area. Lovely fishing village.
