We loved everything about our stay — the house, the location, the sheep, and the chickens! The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the atmosphere is peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable. Both hosts go above and beyond to assist their guests in every way possible. Breakfast with the stunning view was an unforgettable experience.     Our place was just down around the corner from great...

    Our place was just down around the corner from great restaurants and shops. The ferry is docked there. Fishing boats and guided tour boats. We were lucky enough to have car so we drove out to the lighthouse which was picture perfect. On our way home to our home away from home (CEOL MARA) we stopped by chance at Rhueart Gallery . It was truly wonderful to meet James Hawkins , artist supreme .

    Like much of the north-west, Ullapool has become expensive...

    Like much of the north-west, Ullapool has become expensive following the promotion of the NC500. There has not been a matching increase in quality in some places. Despite the extra visitors and a major recent upgrade to the sea front area there are still empty shops on the front. If this is to remain the premier tourist stop for the north-west it needs someone to give it a bit of a shake. Very sad really, Ullapool is a lovely village and need looking after.

    This was a stop of for us in out NC 500 tour ,but have been to Ullapool before.A lovely little town ,nice little independent shops,good eateries and a good starting point for exploring further afield. We stayed here this time to get the ferry to Stornoway on the isle of Lewis,a pleasant 2-3 hour journey.

    A very attractive fishing and ferry port on the shores of Loch Broom. Excellent shops and very friendly local people. The surrounding hills and woods offer plenty of walking and attractive beaches are within easy driving distance. Excellent choices for dining out.

    Lovely wee place with plenty of cafes, bars & restaurants. It was our Anniversary while we were there and we had a lovely meal at the Seaforth Restaurant, food excellent and staff very friendly. We visited Achmelvich beach which was beautiful, gorgeous blue water and not too busy, we were lucky with the weather as sun was out. It was great to sit outside the Ferry Boat Inn with a wee drink over looking the loch seeing the boats and cruise liners coming & going.

    Ullapool is a quiet place and a good base for exploring the area. It can get crowded, especially because large ships stop there and let off passengers for day trips. But we never had the impression that the town was over-full. We didn't do them, but you can arrange boat trips at the harbour. There are a few options for eating, if you want to eat in one of the nicer restaurants then you should reserve, since they get full quickly. There are other options though, a few fish&chips take-aways, a pizza place, etc., and there are picknick tables at the harbour where you can eat your take-away. A few nice shops to browse through.
