FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

Budapest is very nice place and I would definately recomend to anyone who hasnt been there yet. One thing I would like to bring up is public transport in Budapest. We got 1/2 month card which seemed to be best value for money for our 4 days stay. BUDAPESTGO app in combination with Google Maps is very helpfull with planning connections.

It is a very nice city and suprisingly big. A lot of things to see just by walking regular 10.000 steps/day and no need to spend a redicolous amount of money for any entrance fees if you have smaller kids that are not interested to see museums from the inside ;).

Loved Budapest and would recommend for a city break.

Loved Budapest and would recommend for a city break. We did Monday to Friday which was perfect. We visited a thermal spa, did a Danube River Cruise, climbed up to Fisherman's Bastion and visited the Holocaust memorial on the river bank. Loads of bars and restaurants to choose from - just be mindful they tend to close around 11pm and they're reluctant to offer food after about 9.30pm

Once you work out the transport system it is really easy to get around and the travel pass is good value. I would plan beforehand what you want to see and do and pre-book if possible. You can cover a lot of walking taking in the sights. If you book a cruise just be mindful they do not let you use the toilet when preparing to dock or waiting to leave. Public toilets were not something we could find. We found Budapest to be a place full of history and would go back. The Spa is worth a visit although the entrances were confusing. Take a towel and flip flops with you. You must use a swimming cap if swimming and have your hair tied back when using the many spa pools, sauna and steam rooms. There is a recycling tax added on if you buy water, cans etc from shops. Prices are very similar to the UK. The Market Hall is good to buy your souvenirs. They is a regular airport shuttle.

Wonderful city, full of history.

Wonderful city, full of history. Clean, many pedestrianised streets, feels very safe. Climbing to the castle/ cathedral area of Buda gives magnificent views. And Pest has so many churches, synagogues and museums to immerse yourself in the sometimes glorious and sometimes tragic history of this amazing city. There are so many bars, cafes and activities for young people. And the thermal baths are magnificent

Fabulous comfortable hotel a few minutes to the centre by taxi (Bolt). The bed is one of the best i have ever been in, extra king size, gorgeous bathroom with a great bathtub and shower. Great prices considering the quality of the furniture and size of the bedroom in a European capital. Amazing kind staff throughout the hotel. True 5 star experience. Would go back to Budapest solely to stay in this hotel again.

We made late plans for Budapest for New Year's eve and this property was relatively affordable, the staff were efficient at arranging arrival times and check-in. The hotel is in a great location as you can catch the bus just around the corner to the city centre and the entrance is accessible 24/7.
