FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery & Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green spaces of any European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College houses the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

As one of the youngest European cities, Dublin has vibrant nightlife with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish vacation, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, an independent apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

I only had an overnight stay between flights in and out of Dublin, having missed my connecting flight earlier in the day. It was still a good option to travel into Dublin city centre from the airport to stay at the excellent and highly recommended Latroupe Jacob's Inn Hostel. I dropped my suitcases at the airport luggage store facility in Terminal 1, then took the airport's Dublin City Express Bus to Eden Quay near the famous Customs House for 15 Euros return fare. I was able to enjoy hospitality at a couple local pubs, a refreshing pint of Beamish stout at Ryan's Bar on the corner of Mountjoy and Frenchman's Lane, a short walk from Eden Quay, on my way to the hostel in Talbot Lane; checked in and showered at the hostel, then took a stroll in the central north city neighbourhood, along Talbot Street to North Earl Street to find a decent affordable take away meal from a local Chinese restaurant, Xian Street Food; stopped off at Molloys Pub at corner of Talbot Street and Talbot Lane for a nice pint of Guinness with my food; then walked back to the hostel to turn in for the night. All in all an unexpected but very satisfying overnight stay in Dublin.

    We really enjoyed the city.

We really enjoyed the city. Unfortunately we couldn't travel to the coast due to very high winds and rain. So we were in the city for 5 days. We were anticipating 2 days in the city, and 2.5 days on the coast exploring Cork and the Ring of Kerry. We'll have to come back. And we won't hesitate to visit Ireland again, it exceeded our expectations.

It is absolutely worth spending a long weekend here, it is a very exciting, crazy city, filled with young and party people. There are less architectural and cultural programs compared to other capitals, but what there is, is worth visiting. I highly recommend the Book of Kells Experience (the full experience program, it's really worth it!) and the National Gallery of Ireland (it's free). There is a tower behind the Jameson factory that can be visited early in the morning for 5 euros, from here you can see the whole of Dublin. The Temple Bar district and Grafton street are of course unmissable and I also very liked the Henry/ Mary streets, and further, the EPIC Museum/Samuel Beckett Bridge area are also worth visiting.

Loved Temple Bar area and all the bars with music.

Loved Temple Bar area and all the bars with music. Beautiful parks for some time out Icon walk in Temple Bar area very interesting Hop on Hop off Big buses not worth the money. Could easily walk the area they cover and the audio is not very informative. Probably better to spend your money on a walking tour. Craic Den comedy show is a must do. Great comedians and price accessible to all. Little variance in restaurant menus and prices. Most seem to be the same. Food just as good in foodhall in shopping centre as it is in pubs and a little cheaper. Good for lunch.

My son’s wedding was in the city centre, so we decided to stay in the Clarence Hotel for two nights. It was a great decision as the location and facilities were perfect for us. We loved the luxurious rooms and the bars and public areas. I was also happily surprised by how quiet the room was, given that we were beside the nightlife area of Dublin. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay right in the heart of the city.

Top Class Experience. Comfortable Bed and Immaculate Condition of Room. Welcome Drink is a Nice Touch. The Best of this Hotel is definitely the Location though. Can't be beat at all in Dublin City Centre. The Breakfast was Perfectly Cooked and Delicious. I do question the Herby Sausages for Breakfast though. They're very tasty, just not what you'd expect for Breakfast.
