We had the most amazing meal at La Torre restaurant, Giuseppe is an amazing chef. His wife is an amazing host. Our food was of a very high standard and very well presented. I had a glass of red wine that was from the area. I so regret not taking a box home. Absolutely, love our stay. Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Loved going up to Christ the Redeemer it was a fantastic view of the area.Worth the zigzag drive up . We went into the village and down by the boat harbour for dinner . Had the best ever dessert at 1999 ll Ristorante. The food there was amazing . Loved the beach ,the water felt warm , great for swimming. The only thing we found difficult was parking . It would be nice to have a bit of information supplied where the beaches and beach restaurants/facilities are. Also some details for walks in the area, with enough details about paths and directions to be able to go on them without getting lost.Guest review byJohnFrance - 8.0

Beautiful countryside; mountains AND sea. Quiet too. Great for walkers, but if you want to go far afield a car is useful - can be hired in Maratea. Everyone helpful and friendly. not a lot of English spoken (why should they!) but you can get by easily enough. Maratea is a dream destination.
Maratea is a dream destination. A tiny lovely village up in the mountains, stunning beaches and the charm of countryside in between. Safe, welcoming, affordable. Suitable for families and teenagers, there are plenty of boat excursions and water sport facilities so one doesn’t get bored. Social but not too crowded. Will definitely come back! The room was huge and the shower is a complete luxury compared to other place we had stayed in south Italy. We arrived late at night and Marco was already waiting for us; he even turned the heating in advance so the room was not cold. To access the parking you need to go steep downhill and then you get to an ample space. We had breakfast in the terrace since it was a sunny morning.
