A delightful little town with an old castle and picturesque views. Not many shops around in the center, however. Only found one farmacia and one supermarket other than a small alimentari. Scilla was a nice small seaside town away from the hustle and bustle of a city. I visited in April, which is off season and the weather was perfect. The nighttime temps were cool and refreshing and the daytime was nice and pleasantly warm. The water was too cold to swim in, but I did wade along the shore a bit. Lovely town.
Lovely town. Many of the beach/Chianalea tourist-targeted businesses close in the autumn but there are still plenty of places to eat and the weather is perfect (25-27C and sunny when we were there mid-October) for exploring the region. The views across Scilla as well as the sea views and bay...
The views across Scilla as well as the sea views and bay views are all very beautiful. Scilla is on a hillside so expect lots of paths and steps as you explore Scilla. The lift near Bar Roxy on the beach takes you right up to the piazza and a cappuccino, or a pizza from Pizza Scilla. There are places to eat along the beach and in Scilla. Wonderful breakfasts on the terrace. On request, they prepared gluten-free and dairy-free breakfasts for us. The rooms were always clean and tidy. The accommodation is located in the most beautiful historic part of Scilla, yet it's peaceful. Stunning view of the castle on the rock. The only downside is parking – you have to park further away at a paid parking lot. But that's just part of staying in historic towns. We stayed at Signora Tita in a clean, stylish and practical room with a see view. Breakfast is served at a nearby restaurant: coffee, croissant and orange juice, everything superb. Our host Dominic was extremely friendly, helpful and suggestive. The hotel is surrounded by good restaurants and only in a short walking distance to the beach.
