I requested to change accommodation because the photo on the app was not what we got (my fault not theirs) they accommodated me with no problem. Spacious and comfortable! Great attention to detail with many nice amenities. Loved the big dining table and comfy couches, outdoor sitting and grill were great, too. Ample bedrooms, with 5 toilets snd 2 showers. Loved having a kind of secret staff that did the dishes every night. Host was immensely helpful in making recommendations and providing advice.

Wow! It was fantastic. The staff were lovely. We got to choose from a variety of patterns of yakata (robes) which was really special. The room (with an ensuite toilet and sink!) was massive. We were provided with 5 futons so we could pile them on top of each other, great for westerners used to softer beds. This made it comfortable. The homemade tiramisu we ordered on arrival was so tasty. The cup challenge for free juice was fun. And best of all, the private onsen experience! We booked 2 time slots (as it was quiet), one in the stone bath and one in the wooden bath. We loved both, but the stone bath was nicest.

It was a lovely place to visit!

It was a lovely place to visit! We climbed up to the Tenjin observation deck from the trail that begins behind a small shrine. It’s a challenging climb but well-marked and there are ropes the whole way to help pull yourself up tricky parts. We ate at the little Italian restaurant near Tanigawa Lodge and Coffee Roastery which I highly recommend, the pasta is great and they make homemade plum wine. I wish I could have done one more day to enjoy the onsens too.

While waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up in Jomo Kogen, we got suggestion from the lady officer in Information Center to visit Tsukiyono garden. We came in mid April 2025 and there are still a lot of sakura. whereever you shoot your camera, the result of the photo is amazing. there is also a small grocery that serve udon/ramen as well. I bought a watermelon in that grocery and the lady in Udon stall lend me her knife to cut it. the watermelon is very small, compared to what I used to eat in Indonesia, but this minakami watermelon is very juicy and its flesh is so thick yet tender.

Amazing picturesque location!

Amazing picturesque location! Mineral water was natural and wonderful. Be prepared to sleep on a futon on the floor, but other than that very comfortable. People are very nice anyways in Japan, but the staff here was particularly helpful and accommodating. Free shuttle bus from Jomo-Kogen was a real plus which enabled us to get there from Tokyo via Shinkansen. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you super nice lady at the front desk who greeting me upon arrival and during all my stay which make me feel welcome. The mountain view of the outdoor onsen, the snow falling down, was incredible. Very good food quality and hospitality of serving staff. Disliked · No access to snow area in the hotel

Great place for skiing.

Great place for skiing. We tried Houdaigi Ski area and Minakami kogen200 ski resort. Both were excellent. Houdaigi is just a ski area with a restaurant and gift shops. The ski slopes are good. Minakami kogen200 is a hotel with attached ski area, which makes it a ski resort I guess. It's hard to find vegetarian or vegan food in these areas though.

The location is very beautiful in a slightly secluded place in the mountains. Staff at the front desk was very kind and professional. The greatest value of this place is the beautiful outdoor onsen, stretched over a charming mountain stream, consisting of several smaller and larger pools, most of them mixed - no worry though, the hotel provides special clothes for using the bath. With no doubts, this is the most beautiful onsen we have been to in Japan so far and we highly recommend it.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Checking-in and out was easy. The room is very spacious and clean. The open-air bath is fantastic. The view of the mountains and Tone River from the balcony is awesome. The soundproofing of the balcony door is great as I didn’t hear any sound of the river and trains when I was sleeping at night. Overall, it was a restful stay and I enjoyed my stay very much. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Minakami.

The atmosphere was unlike anywhere I have been before, the mountains, room, hotel decor and the river at the bottom were exceptional. The staff were very helpful and the half board dinner and breakfast were superb. The private outdoor bath on the balcony is a wonderful place to just sit and take in your surroundings.

Beautiful, scenic, and historic onsen ryokan hotel nestled in the mountains. The ryokan retains an authentic and genuine atmosphere.
