A quiet little town, a great place to visit to avoid the crowds of tourists. Make sure to take the rope-way to the top of Mount Hachiman for a breathtaking view of Lake Biwa and the surrounding area. There are plenty of great places to visit here.
There are plenty of great places to visit here. The ruins and shrine at the top of Hachiman mountain (Hachimanyama) is well worth visiting, a trip on the canal is pleasant and the tile museum is much better than you would expect. If you want to be organised, I recommend that you make a reservation for lunch and/or dinner. Their specialty is beef but the fresh food is excellent as much of it is locally grown so it's super fresh and delicious.Guest review bySussanJapan
