Everything was perfect, it was an amazing place. The staff was extremely hospitable, making me feel I was really welcome. The room was clean and the food was really good, both breakfast and dinner I had in the restaurant, the sandwitches I purchased for the trip were very tasty. And it's right by the pier.

location: a million dollar view over the mekong and amazing sunset. very, very friendly staff - good breakfast - nice clean rooms - cheap laundry we stayed 3 nights: and did a daytrip goldpanning with autentic Khmu and Hmong villages the second daytrip was to the 1OOO year old tea trea primary forest and lots of beautiful views along the road. our guide Pheng was amazing, from the Khmu tribe, so he could give us a lot of information. Small guesthouse near the pier. Nice and clean room. Very comfortable bed. Good place to stay over night. Owner was super nice. We had very good breakfast in their cafe just opposite the guesthouse. And they made us sandwiches for the boat trip.

We booked this hotel for our stay during the slow boat trip and honestly is a very good option to stay. Quiet with the river view. On Google map says that from the port to the hostel (by walking) takes around 20 minutes but takes around just 10 minutes. The room is clean and has everything you need. I think is a very good option for the price.

I was quite surprised to see the quality of the service (after reading some of the latest reviews). Our room was fully furnished and there were no bugs. However, we got a room in Thip Phavan Guesthouse and I don’t know whether this is the usual accommodation offered by Thipphaphone.

If you take the slow-boat, you have no choice but to stay here. Just make the most of it and sleep as much of it as you can. At least the place seems to go to bed about 9pm so it is very quiet - great when you have to get up at 5:30 the next day

You must read the history of Lao and that area.

You must read the history of Lao and that area. In the past was quite rough. A friend described it as ‘narco sh*thole’. If you are a one night tourist, are polite, stick to your normal tourist routine it seems quaint and harmless. Most local people are friendly and helpful despite the history, and current young party tourists and others. Depends on the day. Almost no one stays two nights.
