All sea view rooms and the room we stayed in was very spacious . A few minutes walk to jungle beach. The staff was friendly and even made arrangements to get our meals sorted. There is a kitchen and if we bring the raw materials we can even cook on our own , just need to pay them for the space we use. Sadly not a lot to do here. Restaurants menus are similar where ever you choose to eat. Shopping is limited. Beach was good and fairly clean. A weekend (2 nights) would've been plenty of time to spend in Ulawatuna. Lots of tuk tuks around but constantly pestered being asked if I needed one. Lots of people selling things on the beach, some are very persistent. We ate in 2 good places, one on the beach with varied food, mostly fish, very good and one Sri Lankan food which was great A downside is that behind the beach is a bit of a shop/cafe/rooms strip. Unawatuna beach is a nice beach behind a reef with turtles swimming and snorkeling. It has a narrow sand strip and at high tide the water comes up to the wall. there were a number of families, local and foreign with young children playing in the shallow part and feeding the turtles. Rooms have a balcony, they are very clean and spaceous. Shared kitchen and fridge are available. The guesthouse is close to the mainroad. A small supermarket and a local restaurant are close by. Also some beautiful, quiet beaches. The town of Unawatuna is in a walking distance or a short Tuk Tuk ride. You can also rent a scooter in the guesthouse for a very reasonable price. Stayed in the penthouse with incredible huge wrap around balcony with stunning views over Unawatuna and the Indian Ocean. Was so peaceful and serene on the hill away from the noise of main beach. Lara the owner is such a great host, so helpful and accomodating with any requests, organising tuks tuks making recommendations etc. he made us feel so welcome and relaxed.
