Lovely place for a weekend escape.
Lovely place for a weekend escape. Strumica is a clean town, has a nice park. Beautiful nature, great waterfalls close to the city, also a good point to visit the beautiful Doiran lake. It was a bit challenging to find a place to eat as we did not book in advance - the good restaurants were full while many were not actually working. Listen all the towns and cities and villages in north macedonia are worthwhile unique and interesting...they tell a story the more you travel in them.... The walk to the fort was wonderful there is ample pleasant fine places to sit down outdoors and great balkan brandies and cognacs available cheaply in little bodegas in airline shooters Listen I just find north macedonia while rusticated over mileniums fascinating....between the greek bulgarian Mesopatanian and turkish and orthodox influences as well as their timeless folk songs on the radio....macedonia is a long story with about 100 pages.... It's both sophisticated and crude, opulent and cheap, reserved but complex, spiritual yet questioned, earthy but jaded, conquered many times but ok and always processing.Guest review byVictorUnited States
