I travelled with a friend for her birthday treat. We realised we are in for a great time from the moment we arrived and we were met by a charming valet who welcomed us graciously like we were some "queens". We had a grand welcome at the reception and the wow moment was when we entered our room only to be welcomed by a complimentary champaigne bottle and two maritim branded sunhats in a magnificent and spacious room. The services at the bar, restaurant, the SPA, the horse stable...all exceeded my expectations. Did i even mention that the DJ was so accommodating as to play a happy birthday song for my friend Joan, played for her a Kenyan song and played for me a Malawian song of my liking? And did i mention how the restaurant went the extra mile to bring for Joan a cake, sung a birthday song for her at breakfast? A rating of 10 cannot even begin to explain the experience at this hotel!!!

Room is very nice, matches the description and photos. Watch by booking, because not all rooms have heated pool. Our had and it was worth it. There are 4 restaurants with excellent chef and stuff. There are 2 pools (1 heated) plus the beach front. Facilities and services are amazing, stuff is very friendly and helpful. Spa menu is 27 pages and the service is excellent. Non-motorised water sport equipment is free to rent any time during the day.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like old friends or even family. They were incredibly kind, always attentive, and genuinely interested in how we were doing. A special mention goes to the restaurant staff, who were not only welcoming but also an absolute pleasure to interact with. The rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, offering breathtaking ocean views. The hotel is perfectly located. It’s an ideal place for a relaxing holiday, and we wholeheartedly recommend it. Getting there by car is easy, and everything you might need is conveniently close by. This hotel has many good things, but the best thing is their staff. Really kind and helpful people, always willing to help and make your stay wonderful. Room was spacious and clean, same as the bathroom. The bed really comfortable. The balcony was really nice and we used it a lot. The beach is right in front of the hotel and it is beautiful and calm, perfect spot to relax. The food is amazing, really good restaurant, we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner and was always great... and we loved the tea team with crepes! All in all it was an excellent place to stay at.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The place is green, has a lovely garden and direct entrance to the beach. There is free coffee available. pool looked nice and clean, however we never used it. staff made sure we feel great, they even had our room ready way before check-in time.

    Balaclava is not the most lively part of Mauritius which...

    Balaclava is not the most lively part of Mauritius which suited us perfectly. It consists mostly of vegetable fields, forests and small hamlets. The coast is getting developed with hotels but each is keeping its space so it doesn't feel crowded. You need to rent a car or get a taxi to visit the nearest town, Pamplemousses. There you have the old sugar factory, botanical gardens and a very pleasant shopping mall with a food supermarket.

    Although it was very hot and humid but there always was a cooling breeze along the coast. Couldn`t fault the staff, always very friendly an helpful and the room service was excellent, clean and efficient. We were not a young couple (in out 70s and 80s) and preferred to stay and enjoy the restful facilities of the resort. We could see that young couples with children were having a good time and were more likely to travel around the island in the heat.

    Balaclava is remote so no opportunity to walk anywhere.

    Balaclava is remote so no opportunity to walk anywhere. We were fine with a good dinner and the occasional musician but some might find it boring. We used a driver but if not then you’d need a car to get round the island. It was cyclone season so mixed weather but in general the North of the island has drier sunnier weather than the South.

    wonderful and chearful resort design, I liked it so much.

    wonderful and chearful resort design, I liked it so much. there are free and paid activities it is very good for families. 12 minutes from seewoosagur ramgoolam botanic garden and 15 minutes from port luis by taxi. there are 2 resturants and bar on the beach, there is delicious hot snack bufffet ( 4 - 5 pm).

    The hotel is quite basic and definitely not up to 4 stars standards. Rooms do not have basic equipment and do not provide little things like coffee and sanitary sets. Generally, the rooms require lot of repairs and look quite old with not clean furniture, towels etc. We had breakfasts and diners included. The level of those is very basic and we had problem to find variable and testy dishes. We tried their The River restourant for additional payment. That one not bad but also doesn’t deserve exceptional rates as was announced.

    The hotel is quiet and calm. The staff is amazing. Kind and very nice. The food at breakfast was amazing, with all kind of smoothies and fruits. Also available a menu card for order. The beach was great to swim also clean. The concierge was super helpful and very knowledgeable about how to spend our time actively. The room services is also great. The cleaning was greatly appreciated by us, as whatever needs we had they were reacting fast and polite.
