Monsoon season, meant a lot of sea weed on beaches although locals trying to keep of top of its removal and in the sea , stopping swimming, mosquitoes due to damp humid weather . Taxi is very expensive as no other public transport,so they can charge what they want , hire of scooters is cheaper.
As a family with tweens we did not enjoy Tulum & will not be back. The kids were not allowed many places/ restaurants. Algea covered the beach (it was july), the restaurants were priced higher than where we live but the quality of the food was poor. If you are a family I would skip and go elsewhere. The cenotes in the reason are awesome!
Tulum is the jungle so go prepared. Repellent and sunscreen. Avoid taxi cabs it’s way too expensive. Opt to rent a car you will see way more of Tulum that way. Make sure to spend time at the cenotes. Avoid August because the seaweed makes the ocean unbearable.
Once you know the right places to go, where to book transportation, which tours to take, I’m sure you will have the best experience and you won’t want to leave! The agency @xclusivetravelw helped me with concierge service with no charge, and they recommended the best spots, my camera roll is full of amazing content from Tulum.
Tulum is a city you'd have to explore more, especially with car access which we didn't have. Things could get expensive fast with the transportation, souvenir shops, and cafes that cater to tourists. I spent $35 USD on brunch, which wasn't a lot or filling at all. Yet you turn the corner, and a birria taqueria fills you up for only $16 USD. Watch your spending.
Tulum south is good, friendly and helpful people . It didn’t seem right to pay to visit paradise beech. No clear guidelines to visit beeches via resorts. We visited Tulum ruins but very unclear about the genuine ticket office as we were stopped at three places to buy tickets by unofficial representatives.
Friendly (English speaking) reception and a comfortable room. Good to have a kettle and a fridge in the room. Short walk to the beach - which was beautiful, no sargassum weed when we were there at the end of November. It was about a 10 minute walk along the beach to a couple of restaurants in the evening - or alternatively down the unlit but very quiet road. Snorkelling boat trips could be booked very close by on the beach. The hotel bikes were useful for getting to the Tulum Ruins. Bike lights were available for the evening.
The property is so aesthetically pleasing. It screams ‘Tulum’. Nothing was compromised to the contrary. The beds were comfortable, the washroom was clean. It came with ample amenities and clean towels. They even provide you with refillable drinking water. The location of the property is so good as it is only walking distance (like 5 mins) to most of the eatery, bars and souvenir shops. We had a car, reaching the famous cenotes or even Tulum hotelzone (beachside) was barely 10-12 minutes. Overall, we had a lovely, warm stay.
Absolutely loved the property’s jungle vibes and eco-friendly credentials. It is such a special place - feels very boutique and the design is stunning. The pool and cenote was so beautiful and the restaurant was excellent - as were the staff. We personally loved how it was removed from beach as the beach clubs are not our vibe. This was well situated for Tulum town (for incredible tacos and street food - Palma Central for this and live salsa), 20-30min walk away (or the hotel can arrange a taxi).
We had an excellent stay at this hotel - the room (and the whole place, really) was beautifully designed and very comfortable. The restaurant was great - we had breakfast there (included in the room price), as well as dinners, and enjoyed sandwiches, juices, and smoothies from the bar throughout the day. Above all, the staff were amazing and helped us a lot with all our (many) questions and requests. Highly recommend this place for your next trip to Tulum!!
Beautiful hotel in Tulum with excellent service by the staff. We loved the pool areas and having access to the beach. There is a lovely rooftop bar where you can watch the sunset. Interior of the hotel is stunning. We took the yoga class one morning which was included in our stay. And we enjoyed the film that was put on the big screen one evening.
Everything was truly amazing. We had such a great vacation for three nights. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. The restaurant and spa on site were very good and top quality. The cenote was a unique, magical part of the hotel and the location to other Tulum restaurants and sites was perfect. The only bad side…the trip wasn’t long enough
Great place, pool is literally right off the back patio. Kitchen was stocked with silverware and dishes. Location was great just between the Hotel Zone and the main Tulum Downtown. We walked several times from the property with no problems. Free Parking onsite, and 24/7 front desk team was there to answer any local questions.
Cabanas Tulum is a luxury stay - with the pool and the beach on your doorstep. It's right in the beach zone in Tulum, and its easy to get to and from Tulum central from this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, the facilities are clean, and the staff are so friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Perfect location in the Hotel Zone in Tulum. Staff were attentive and very helpful with special mention to Michel and Chef Diego. Hotel was on its own private beach which was cleaned every day (currently seaweed season). We saw turtles nesting on the beach which was a real treat to witness.
The location was excellent, very close to the Hotel Zone and best beaches of Tulum. The team greeted us at check-in and was super friendly an helpful throughout the entire stay. Our favorite part was getting sun and just lounging together by the stunning pool. We will definitely be back!
Hotel was directly on the beach and our bungalow was steps away from the water. It was right next to the restaurant but felt quiet due to partitions. It was right in the center of Tulum beach zone but very quiet and peaceful, but being in center made it easy to get around. Perfect getaway!
Mereva is a little piece of heaven. The property is well maintained and the staff are phenomenal. It is close enough to downtown, just a taxi away, and far enough away from the large all inclusive hotels that you really get a quiet and comfortable experience. Yay for Mereva Tulum.
Great bungalow with your private beach. The most amazing view to wake up to! Really comfortable bed and decoration feels very Tulum. Great that you can use facilities at the hotel next door.
Tulum City Centre, Tulum
It was our best hôtel experience in Mexico. Very clean, a luxury apartment, not expensive. Pool exquisite with plants all around. Fantastic experience. We highly recommend.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly, very nice. Breakfast was great. Janet was the best. 15 minute car ride to central tulum and hotel zone 20 minutes.
