Hawera is a town of 8,000 people but it seems a lot more. A rural town with a very country feel it has modern amenities and lots of different food options to choose from. Just a quick overnight stay.
Just a quick overnight stay. It coincided with a well put together celebration of Mat ariki but not called that, just a mid-winter celebration. It was winding down as the drums filled with wood to create warmth and ambience had not lasted the distance. The town had obviously come out for it, families and young people mostly. Stalls, food trucks live entertainment. Well done for whomever was the brains behind it. Bought dinner from the pizza place central on the high street opposite an open courtyard area that had a solitary swing hanging. Food was good but took rather a long time.Guest review byJ. I didn’t want a larger motel unit as such. I just wanted a bed and bathroom facilities at a reasonable price and Fossil Coast B&B provided that. I appreciated being met by Gillian when I arrived and being shown my room. As I did the cleanliness and neatness. My rooms were always warm to come home to and my bed comfortable to sleep in. Felt more like home that a hotel room. Beds were comfy and water pressure was good. Plenty of space in the rooms. Hosts are fantastic and more than accommodating for our 16 month old and supplied a cot with blankets, high chair, mess mat and a non slip pad for the bath.Room was serviced every day and restocked.
