During the day we took the time exploring the hidden beaches in Setubal (Praia de Galapinhos is highly recommended), so evening was spent exploring this unique historical property that extends back to the period of Islamic occupation. What a fabulous experience being able to stay in the convent and wander about the castle. One of our favorite stays in Portugal.

The place is super special for all nature and animal lovers. Claudia and all the family were extremely kind and helpful with everything. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms are cozy and comfortable plus a lot of shared spaces outdoors.

Absolutely delightful little cottage in a typical small community. Well equipped and perfect for a few days stay in Palmela. Charming and welcoming host. Nice gift of local cheese and wine. Lots to see locally, particularly the castle, but there's plenty more in a short distance. Gòd local shops and eateries, and all the main brands within a couple of kilometres. We loved it.

    My recent stay at this property was, without question, the...

    My recent stay at this property was, without question, the most infuriating and unacceptable experience I have ever endured in any accommodation. Over the course of four nights, my privacy was blatantly violated on multiple occasions. The managing couple entered our room without consent at least twice, with one particularly egregious incident where the hostess barged in despite knowing we were inside, even with the door closed. This was reported to Booking.com due to its severity. Their hospitality was nothing short of deplorable. The hosts constantly monitored our movements, especially in the kitchen, creating an oppressive atmosphere. They complained incessantly about our use of the coffee machine, which was supposedly freely accessible to all guests. The kitchen itself was woefully inadequate, lacking a microwave to heat food, and breakfast was rationed in a manner that felt insulting to paying guests. The hosts’ lack of respect extended to tampering with our personal belongings in the room during our absence, further eroding any sense of privacy or comfort. Their recommendations were utterly unreliable—following their advice about a nearby beach led us to an inaccessible location, resulting in unnecessary frustration. Even at check-out, the hosts displayed shocking rudeness, making no effort to engage with us and treating us with blatant disregard. This property represents the absolute worst of the hospitality industry. The hosts’ complete lack of professionalism, respect, and common decency made us feel like intruders rather than valued guests. I strongly advise against staying here—this place is a disgrace, and the constant surveillance, privacy violations, and hostile environment make it utterly unsuitable for anyone seeking a peaceful stay.

    I do not know much about the surrounding area, but the posada itself was great. You have history, a fantastic 360¤ view of Lisboa and Setubal. A historic castle, and as a bonus some small archeological excavations on display. Don't miss out on the small exhibition of old portugeese military communications, including a Heligraf. You can also find the very first LM Ericsson phone and switchboard made for export outside of Sweden. As a curiosity you will find the original "mobile phone", sold to the portuguese cavalry.

    It is very poor in all terms.

    It is very poor in all terms. Everything is very cheap and old, photos looks waaaaay better than things really are. Sink didn't flush the water, so it was always full of water, no shower gel, no toothpaste. Smells very bad inside the room and outside. Inner yard is awful, burned and never cutted grass, garbage on the ground, broken glass... In general it is uncomfortable motel, which doesn't cost 125€, max 50.

    Great bed and bedding.

    Great bed and bedding. We had one dinner there, it was good but not exceptional, breakfasts were excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a glass of wine in the beautiful sitting area. Enjoyed exploring the castle right there but walking into Palmela very steep so we did not explore the town much. We explored the nature estuary near Setabul and did some birdwatching.

    The whole complex is faded glory, the golf course is...

    The whole complex is faded glory, the golf course is overgrown with grass and weeds. The area around the apartments is poorly maintained with dried out plants because the irrigation system no longer works. Outside around the apartments it is a mess with crumple and dog poop in front of the door. It is clean in the apartments themselves, but many things do not seem to work or are incomplete (jamming doors, broken tap, inventory incomplete, shower water does not drain). In short, a very disappointing accommodation for a hefty price).

    Nice quiet neighborhood, very close to my son's apartment.

    Nice quiet neighborhood, very close to my son's apartment. This apartment just has the basics, but nice shower & bed, clean. No more golf course, though. There is a restaurant about 100 yards away. No public transportation close.

    Small but perfectly sized living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, with all necessary items needed in each room. A perfect base to go from for local shops, supermarkets, restaurants and cafés, as well as wine bars close by in the small town of Palmela. The Castel de Palmela was a short Uber drive away. D.Maria came to us to explain the workings of the washing machine, and other information - she was most helpful.

    Spectacular hotel. I had no words when I saw it. The best hotel that I have ever stayed in my life. I feel like I stepped back in time being there. Excellent customer service. I would highly recommend anybody to go there.
