I love it here . Has everything and anything. For me I like the beach , the restaurants, the markets and am happy to do that all day at one of the beach front bungalows. But there is plenty of night life if you want it . A lively place, lovely locals, easy to go other places on the island with taxis . The beach is beautiful. Warm water . Food and drinks along the beach .lots to see and do in the town. So many restaurants to choose from . Capybara cafe is so funny had a great time there . Stayed on the beach and didn't venture in to the town of Chaweng, or the high street, didn't need to. A mix of resorts and hotels on the beach, from 5* to 3*, all offering great locations, food and friendly service. Some were child friendly, and very shallow waters safe for kids or non swimmers. Chaweng is a beautiful destination for a chill out holiday The Jungle Tour is definitely worth doing & don't be afraid to barter the price Lots of eateries with great selection of food to choose from Fishermans Market is very pretty at night & there are bargains to be had If you hire a car or scooter - by careful if you like to dabble in the Green because the Police will pull you over & you will get a hefty fine - not worth it - grab a taxi or the local rides (which are cheap)Guest review byRuth WalkerUnited Kingdom - 6.0

I think I would prefer to go a bit further to Lamai beach. 10km away. The private taxi from the airport cost 400baht to go the 2 km. Walk past the desk and locate a normal taxi. I found that the normal price for a taxi is 500baht for 10km or 600baht for 15km.Guest review bysmith - 8.0

Chaweng has something for everyone. we were 2 50+ adults with our 28 year old son and girlfriend. They enjoyed the nightlife on the strip with some friends and we enjoyed some lovely lunches and and beach days in a nice resort whilst they recovered from the nights excesses. If your expectations are cottage chic, you’re going to be happy. If it’s hotel with amenities, your reaction will be a bit surprised. I wish they provided more than just a bar of soap and one towel each. No bathmat, no hand towels, no shampoo. Air conditioning was excellent. The rooms were clean but the bathroom window didn’t close so there were spiders, but we were in a jungly atmosphere so I didn’t mind. The restaurant prices were high so we didn’t eat there. They helped us book tours, cars, and provided us with everything we needed, especially on the day that we left and had to check out but still wanted to hang out at the hotel before our late flight.
