Open spaces, quiet country town with friendly, welcoming people. Community cares about this town and is proud of its cleanliness. People are investing in its future. Tar road access from Victoria West and Canarvon preferable to the dirt road from Beaufort West. Co-op and small shop for amenities. Restaurants close fairly early.

    It is an interesting place.

It is an interesting place. I can't beleive that there is no shop there. Perhaps there should be a place to buy some necessities like water, toiletries and basic meds, for example panados, vicks, sanitary towels, etc. Farmers in the area can initiate that. Travelling to Victoria West for basic needs is a very ancient way of thinking :)

Loxton is a small town in the Karoo, off the regular travel routes. It is peaceful, quiet, pretty and safe. We walked around the town, enjoyed the character of the place, chatted to locals and took many photographs. We ate at the Karos Lodge, where we had a fabulous dinner and breakfast. It is out of the way, but well worth the small effort to get there
