Offering an outdoor pool surrounded by vineyards and a lush garden area, Casa da Azenha is located in Lamego. Free WiFi access is available in this farm stay.

Casa da Azenha dates back to the latter half of the 17th century. This charming property is located on a vineyard in the heart of the Douro region, a UNESCO world natural heritage site near the cities of Régua and Lamego. Featuring a bath, private bathroom also comes with a hairdryer and a bidet. You can enjoy garden view from the room. Extras include bed linen. Our host Maria was exceptional! She was ready to make us feel like in home. Also helping with recomendation for visiting the surrondings. The place is absolutely gorgeous if what you are looking for is a natural, relaxed atmosphere. We really liked the common breakfast table that gave us many good opportunities to speak to other guests - the breakfast is buffet style but has all you need incl fruit and fresh juice. You are free to roam the grounds and pick fruit to eat and you have several wineyards within 2km distance. The rooms were really quirky and good size, very clean and with a lot of small details. If you rent with kitchen you have all you need to cook or simply make your European style picknick dinner on the balcony with view to hawks and smaller birds flying overhead. The old rockwalls and modern isolated windows let you sleep in complete silence so make sure you leave a small crack in the old wooden blinds so that the sun will wake you up. We loved the fresh pool after the hot daytrips and you can buy cold wine from local wineyards in the reception if you forgot to bring some home for an evening glass.

Featuring pool with a view and views of mountain, Casa do Romezal is a guest house situated in a historic building in Peso da Régua, 6.5 km from Douro Museum. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. What sets Portugal apart in the post pandemic world of tourism is the fact that they’ve reached that stage in between early and fully matured tourism. This allows for exceptional service which we received in all four locations we stayed at but the proprietors, Margaride and her brother Luis stand out as above and beyond the others Beginning all the way with my reservation that was made six months ahead, Margaride continuously communicated via WhatsApp with me. Sending me a wealth of information about the area including restaurant choices, tourist attractions and answering every question I had about driving, weather, culture, wine tasting and everything else, it was beyond what I expected and then some. She also helped make dinner reservations. The property itself is stunningly gorgeous. Set on a hillside with an amazing view of the valley, the three large bungalows are large, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. There’s a small pool overlooking the valley although the water was kept insanely cold by our standards. Luis runs the wine business and arranged a tasting for us when we arrived. Explaining the industry and business in great detail, it’s a nice start to visiting the area. Although breakfast is not included, Margaride brought us local breads and pastries from the town and left them at our door. There’s full kitchen facilities should you choose to cook. Be aware that the roads of the Duoro Valley are quite narrow, very twisty and turns and hazardous at night if you’re unfamiliar with that type of driving. But do make an effort to float down the river on a ribello (the boats they used to carry wine downriver), visit Quinta Nova or other quality vineyards and explore the charming town of Lamego nearby. Priced exceptionally well for such a beautiful location, the property is beautiful and the proprietors work way too hard which benefits all their customers. Five stars and no negative comments.

Quinta do Tedo is an award-winning agrotourism that provides accommodation with breakfast included. This 18th Century estate is located in an ecological reserve – Biosphere Certificated -, a unique location in the heart of Douro Valley. Set in the convergence of the Douro and Tedo rivers, provides unique and stunning landscapes. Our guests are offered a special wine tasting – available every day at 18:00 (from 23rd March to 10th November) or 16:00 (from 11 th November to 22nd March). Great place to stay in Duoro Valley, right in the middle of everything. Very friendly, helpful staff that went over & above to make us comfortable. Smaller family-owned winery that is in the process of making great improvements for guests. Would definately stay here again if in the area.
