Amazing location, waves crushing under the balcony, spectacular views of the sea and cliffs, two great restaurants on site - both view sea views. We also got a welcome drink as a surprise and all staff were most welcoming and helpful.

The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes.

The spacious rooms are individually designed following the 4-seasons-of-the-year theme. Each features an LCD TV with in-room movies, free WiFi and a laptop-size safe. The staff including Managers were very pleasant, accommodating and spoke perfect english. We travelled with our family of seven using 3 rooms. The breakfast was fantastic offering, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, coffees and my favourite freshly squeezed orange juice to name a few items. Our rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Separate large rooms for both the toilet and walk in shower. We had a great view of the sea port where the cruise ships were docked. The Vine has the best location in Funchal and is an easy walk to many attractions. This was my second visit to the Vine.

The hotel has a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. Excellent service from the moment you enter the hotel. All staff extremely friendly. Nice rooftop pool and bar/lounge. Rooms have everything you need. Left before breakfast but got a breakfast box that had more food than I could eat. Free spa admission with a steam room and Turkish bath complimentary. Nice restaurant and ambiance throughout the hotel. Highly recommended.

The Hibiscus à la carte restaurant features a Mediterranean menu and local dishes in a dining room with stunning sea views. The outdoor terrace provides spectacular views of sunsets or leisurely breakfasts in the morning sun. Guests can also eat outdoors by the pool. The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel is very quiet, there are no breakfast queues or big crowds at the pools like in big hotels. It's the perfect place for relaxing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant surprised us with its excellent quality.

Beautiful breakfast every morning. Staff always helpful with any enquiries and special thanks to Manuela for arranging car hire with car dropped directly to the car park.
