The host is just super nice and helpful, she pick us at the train station and she explain us what we've to see in the town, like a little guide.
She bring us to Monkey park when we arrived and she kept our luggage to put it in our room so no worries for us even if we came before the check in time.
We can choose to eat at the ryokan or not (is not included), and it was amazing : homemade delicious dishes in a typical atmosphere.
The osen can be private when we wanted and all bath stuff is included.
So no regret and we recommend it ! ✌️

The couple who runs the place were so nice and friendly. On top of shuttling us to the monkey park, they loaned us rubber boots to wear for the hike up because it was pretty muddy at the time. Our room on the fourth floor had its own bath and a balcony with a view, and the futons we slept on were super comfortable. There’s an onsen in the building and a public one outside not too far away, and we made full use of both! I especially liked the variety of yukata patterns we could choose. Upon checkout, we were given a cute five yen coin ribbon charm to take home ☺️

It was very unique experience. This very charming traditional Japanese ryokan is within short distance from the train (or bus) station. Everything was clean and well organised there. We spent really very relaxing enjoyable moments there. It feels all very authentic (including delicious Japanese dining) and the stuff is also very friendly and welcoming. 100% worth it!

The hotel was exactly what we hoped for. It was traditional in style, had a range of bath options and looked fantastic. The room had plenty of space for two people and was stylish and warm. It was comfortable and the staff were very helpful and attentive but not at all intrusive. Our lack of Japanese was no issue for them or us. It was an easy walk to the Yadanaka train station and bus stop to the snow monkey park. The dinners and breakfasts were amazing.

Not sure what some comments are on about. Yes this hotel appears a little dated at first sight but it is incredibly charming.
After arrival at Yudanaka station, I went to the tourist information center and the staff helped me to call Hotel Housei and they picked us up in 5 minutes. The indoor and especially, outdoor onsen were amazing! The dinner and breakfast were good. After checkout, the hotel ferried us to the snow monkey park while keeping our luggage at the hotel, which we picked up afterwards and the hotel ferried us back to Yudanaka station.
The staff were incredibly friendly throughout, and most knew really good English. This was the best Ryokan experience I ever had and this is my third trip to Japan. Finally, I paid the equivalent of $83 USD for 1 night.

Traditional but not boring breakfast, very traditional but not not old and destroyed decor and, most of all, kind staff.
